Tell me I’m not the only one... who’s been out for a run?!

Just got back. I didn’t pass a soul despite running through one of the most beautiful parks in England. The sun was coming up, it wasn’t raining, fairly mild.

Utterly exquisite. I could not believe I was alone. A wonderful way to start 2019!

Tell me, anyone else out this morning??

Going to parkrun for 10.30. I was going to do the double park run like I did last year, but just too tired and full of cold.

TheHauntedFishtank · 01/01/2019 09:12

I’m going out later. Signed up to race at your pace for 25 miles in Jan so need to make a start.

eleventybillion · 01/01/2019 09:18

Another one full of cold ... did a Christmas Day parkrun but think today will mostly be about lemsip and movies! Your NYD runs sound amazing!!

MadisonAvenue · 01/01/2019 09:50

Not a run but I’ve just walked 5 miles with the dog. Didn’t see anyone else.

MrsJBaptiste · 01/01/2019 09:59

No but if the gym was open, I'd be going there this morning 🏋️‍♂️

ragged · 01/01/2019 10:01

I should get out... seized with jetlag & no sun here though.

MeOldChina · 01/01/2019 10:04

I'm going to do a short jog later. I'm a terrible runner but doing c25k again and trying to run a little every day, as i hate how much i slip back even when i miss a week.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 01/01/2019 10:12

I'm jealous of those of you who have been out already. I am twitching to go for a run (I'm back doing the 5-10k programme) but I've a horrible cough. I'm going to go for a walk by the sea later and hope it shifts something loose. Happy New year!

Stephisaur · 01/01/2019 10:12

I used to love a New Years Day run.

I have a 3 week old baby though, this year I’m staying home Grin maybe next year!

RJnomore1 · 01/01/2019 10:13

DH is just heading out same as every new year.

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 01/01/2019 10:23

Hopping on the treadmill - idle days/booze/not drinking enough water make a 74kg me a rather lardy me. Now I wonder why my speed and stamina sucks!

Notageek · 01/01/2019 10:25

@Pinkvici22 in addirion to the normal Saturdays, parkruns can choose to do a run on Christmas day and New Years day. They can also start a bit later if they want to. There’s always a list of operating parkruns and times on the parkrun website as they may change from year to year. On New Years day especially if you have 2 close by you may find they will co-ordinate times with one starting at 9am, the other at 10.30 am allowing people to ‘do the double’.

teddyneedsawash · 01/01/2019 10:25

Yep. Had planned to do local Parkrun but got the time wrong! So knocked out a couple of miles along the sand in glorious sunshine with the flattest January sea I've ever seen!

Bubba1234 · 01/01/2019 10:27

I’m hungover now lol but dying to head out later!!!

billybagpuss · 01/01/2019 10:28

3.5 mile walk with billypup, now enjoying a late breakfast. we passed quite a few runners

sprinkleofsunshine · 01/01/2019 10:32

I am late but just having something to drink and then heading down the beach.

AnyFucker · 01/01/2019 10:34

Not running but climbing a bloody great hill after my bacon. New Year's Day tradition.

safariboot · 01/01/2019 10:37

I've got the runs, does that count? Grin

Adversecamber22 · 01/01/2019 10:38

DH is currently at park run, I will be going for a healthy long walk later I did love running but my dodgy back issues mean it can rarely happen.

Pinkvici22 · 01/01/2019 10:40

Thanks Notageek - my local doesn’t have a NYD run, second nearest does, but I’ve just managed 5.5k in the lovely woods

Ivegotthree · 01/01/2019 10:41

My favourite way to start the NY is with a run so am envious of you. We're too busy this morning for me to fit one in but I had a long one across moorland yesterday and it was bloody great.

Nice day for it OP

beardeddragon174 · 01/01/2019 10:42

Going later today, but I did go at 7.45 on boxing day! It makes a good start to the day.

megletthesecond · 01/01/2019 10:47

We were literally running late to volunteer at Parkrun and had to sprint there. I'm a popular mum this morning.

yogima · 01/01/2019 10:58

I decided to start running (again!) a few days ago but I have a pain in the back of my knee. I'm thinking I shouldn't run on it today. Any of you experienced runners got any advice for a beginner?
I did make up for my lack of run with a long meditation and yoga practice this morning though. Grin
Was a blissfully way to start the year

InteriorLulu · 01/01/2019 11:02

Just getting on the treadmill now that I feel a bit more human.
