TV show for 1 year old?

We'll shortly be taking a very long car journey to see relatives, and will have our just turned 1 year old with us.

He doesn't usually watch TV, and I'm not even convinced he has the attention span for it, but I was thinking of having something to hand in case he gets a bit upset and needs a bit of distraction in between service station stops.

Is there anything you would recommend that this age group might like?

DC's used to get travel sick so we preferred stories and music.

I always take books and toys and sing songs, but I'm a bit clueless when it comes to which tv shows are good. I've found some Peppa Pig on youtube, but other than that I don't really know what to search for.

My DS likes noddy and the secret life of pets - I think it's the bright colours that's appealing

Ds loved waybuloo (not too sure on correct spelling) on CBeebies at that age, nice and calming, relaxing music and yoga poses!

DoingMyBest2010 · 31/12/2018 22:33

Mr Tumble, In the Nightgarden, Ben and Holly, Peppa Pig or Baby Einstein.

Hey Duggie!

Hey Duggee

Watto1 · 31/12/2018 22:34

In The Night Garden. There's something about it that sends little ones straight off to sleep!

Nessiej78 · 31/12/2018 22:35

My 18 month old DS likes watching the Mr Tumble nursery rhymes on YouTube and Peppa Pig.

userschmoozer · 31/12/2018 22:35

The only one the DC's would watch that didn't drive me round the bend was Sesame Street Xmas Grin. There's loads of episodes on Youtube. Also Barney and Tellytubbies.

We have nursery rhyme CDs for the car that keep our toddler entertained. We also found a balloon was great on a long journey as playing with it kept him entertained for quite a while. He was about 14 months I think.

We don't let him watch much TV but he does love In the Night Garden. He also likes Little Baby Bum (on Netflix) although I find that very annoying! And he has been enjoying Pingu (on Amazon Prime).

My one year old loves nursery rhymes and songs on YouTube. I specifically use them for the car. Mr tumble's nursery rhymes and he also likes teletubbies 😊 x

kaytee87 · 31/12/2018 23:23

The night garden is usually a big hit with 1yo's. And peppa.

Sweetooth92 · 31/12/2018 23:23

My almost one year old loves hey duggee and the furchester hotel. Every now and then does no harm

kaytee87 · 31/12/2018 23:24

and little baby bum. They prefer them the second or third time they watch them I find so maybe test them out beforehand

reetgood · 31/12/2018 23:24

Cel982 · 31/12/2018 23:26

ForeverBubblegum · 31/12/2018 23:39

Another vote for duggee.

Download for free from BBC iplayer. DS managed a 4 hour flight with barely a peep watching it at around 16 months.

Yabbers · 01/01/2019 00:23

Anything on BabyTV. They have lots of songs and stuff which DD loved.
