What exactly does it do?

Zoflorabore · 31/12/2018 21:55

Mine has died and I'm devastated. Have tried everything in the dummy book about Alexa. Can I send it back? Bought in August.

I've seen on other threads about it that some people are convinced that Alexa is a spy but I don't think so.
I never even had the chance to ask her to fart before she broke Grin

tellmewhenthespaceshiplands · 31/12/2018 21:57

Chips you may be onto something Grin!

We had Whigfield earlier. DD was frankly horrified.

Alexa farts? I got an echo dot for free from BT after they’d left me with a dodgy landline for months saying it wasn’t their fault (it was). I’m loving the radio stations, the quizzes and the Mishi twilight tales

VimFuego101 · 31/12/2018 22:01

@Zoflorabore - use the chat on amazon to talk to a customer service rep - they may offer you a discounted one. They have a vested interested in people having them as you order from amazon via them. They've given me decent discounts off kindles before.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplands · 31/12/2018 22:03

Alexa farts?!!! She's literally an electronic party! Zoflora (love your username btw!) Amazon are pretty good with returns could be worth a shot?

I want one but I've heard it listens to everything and I'm a bit scared of them ???

mnahmnah · 31/12/2018 22:07

Ask her to miaow like a cat. Also to open the magic door.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 31/12/2018 22:08

Oh yes - DH's favourite thing.

Ask
"Alexa, pull my finger"
and she will make a farting sound. And occasionally tell you to check yourself.

fluffygreenmonsterhoody · 31/12/2018 22:10

We’ve had her making cat noises this evening (thanks DS) and our cat is endlessly entertained/curious about her as a result.

My own personal favourite is when you ask her to make a hamster noise...

Livedandlearned · 31/12/2018 22:10

They do listen to everything, or it wouldn't hear you say Alexa

SylvanianFamiliesNurserySet · 31/12/2018 22:13

Ask her to make a giraffe noise. I’ve always wanted to know what sound they make.

thesnapandfartisinfallible · 31/12/2018 22:25

Of course they listen. They're always listening out for the wake word. So is your phone/tablet. They wouldn't hear much of any interest in my house so I'm not vastly bothered by it.

IamChipmunk · 31/12/2018 22:27

My ds plays hide and seek with her and asks for pictures of different animals. His particular favourite being lizards.
She can listen all she likes in our house, i hope the random and constant chat of a 4 and 2 yr old amuses her!
