Do people still go out, out for NYE?

I'm talking about suited and booted / cocktail dress. Dinner and dancing.

I got talking to an older gentleman in M&S today and that was his plans later. Made me think back to my grandparents who used to always get glammed up on NYE and go out for a posh dinner and then on to some kind of dance???

I don't think I've ever gone to more than a naice pub? It just isn't what my generation does? Or do they? Late 30's here by the way.

Most people I know use it as an excuse to go out and get pissed!
I think my parents might be at a dance tonight. They regularly go to classes and dances though. They are only mid 50s.

I did that once with family on NYE - large posh dinner followed by live music and dancing. Everyone in black tie. It was fun!

Of course, especially in Scotland. When I moved to England I was surprised about how the English were quite dull when it came to New Year’s Eve but I was a lot younger then.

Friends of mine are in their 60s and they have taken their campervan to a very touristy village nearby to a nice hotel, NYE dinner and disco. My kinda night if im honest!

My parents neighbours go to a black tie function every NYE. No idea where they go, I don't move in the same circles!

Yep, my parents go to dinner/dances on NYE, although tonight are at a different dinner so no dancing.

I always love the idea, although last year they were in the Caribbean partying it up on the beach.
Little bit different trying to waltz on the beach whilst the DJ played soca music...
