Posting for traffic, sorry about TMI but woke up with a sore hard lump under the skin, it's at the point where the labia majora meets the minora and quite high up. Don't think it's Bartholins as from looking them up they seem to be at the bottom.

Had a bath and have been putting hot compresses on, is it worth adding anything to water? Salt? I have tea tree oil and lavender oil in the house as well if any good.

Hurts to sit and walk, bit bigger than a pea but smaller than a grape, no head, seems quite deep down and no surrounding redness. Any help gratefully appreciated!

Ouch. Bumping, no pun intended.

TherightsideofHERstory · 31/12/2018 14:31

Thanks, been googling Bartholins some more and think it's very unlikely not just location but my age (47) and I'm post (surgical) menopause. Not the best start to a new year!

Ingrown hair?

They can be very painful.

Keep on with a warm compress and a salt bath.

If it's an ingrown hair, spot or boil it should help.

About to TMI so apologies in advance.

I get similar sounding lumps, though only a few have got to any size beyond a small red lentil (yay! using food items to measure bodily lump size Grin)

They seem to just be a sort of spot, if given a curious squeeze.

Some pop, others just disappear after a while.

I think you know if it’s a Bartholin cyst - they get quite big.

MothertotheLordsofmisrule · 31/12/2018 15:10

Arrgghh.

But a warm bath usually helps, never used tea tree oil so can’t help there.

Invisimamma · 31/12/2018 15:10

Ingrown hair? They can be really painful!

MarthaArthur · 31/12/2018 15:12

Normal cyst it sounds like i get them all the timw. Hot water compresses every now and then should go away in a few days.

ShadyLady53 · 31/12/2018 15:13

Epsom salt bath, also aim shower head at it as it numbs the pain. Hope it goes away soon!

Notatallobvious · 31/12/2018 15:15

I’ve had them a couple of times, used hot compresses on them and they’ve gone after a week or so. Always assumed they were some sort of boil/cyst.
