Brown blood for 4 weeks, 16 weeks pregnant

Can anyone offer me any insight please, I'm 16 weeks pregnant today. For the last 4 week's I have had a small amount of brown, bloody discharge when I wipe, sometimes just discoloration on the tissue; by the end of the day there is usually enough to have covered about half of a small panty liner. So not masses of blood, just a bit.
I have had scans, the baby is fine. I've had swabs done, urine samples sent, all is fine and I have no infections. I know brown blood is old blood, but it must have been new at some point right?!
Has anyone else experienced the same?
This is my fourth baby, I can feel movement and I'm reassured that he's fine. I'm just one of those people that need to know why, and I'm worried that this may lead to something later on in pregnancy? Its making very paranoid!! Thanks all Grin

No insight as to why, but I had this for 1 week with my 3rd, and 6 weeks with my 4th, both from around 11 weeks. No cause found at the time, and no other problems as the pregnancies progressed.

It’s proabaly just a small haematoma caused by implantation finally making it’s way out.

I wouldn’t be much concerned but you like to ask for another scan for your own reassurance.

I had this on and off throughout my pregnancy with DS1 as a result of a vanishing twin. It's very worrying and I had lots of scans as I went to hospital for every episode, but DS is now a healthy and happy 9 yr old. Obviously you will, but do keep an eye on it and get things checked if anything changes.

Thank you everyone for your responses. I see my MW in the new year, if it hasn't resolved by then I'm going to see if she can arrange for a consultant to look me over maybe. Happy New year to you all X x

I had similar with my fifth pregnancy - two previous births, two losses in between. I bled almost every day from week 6 to 16, had scans, all fine, baby slightly premature and ill as a result of that but otherwise ok. The staff at the EPU did say that when this happens babies are often early but should be no other ill effects. I was told it was a uterine bleed but in a part not directly connected to the chord etc and that it would resolve itself, which it did. I think you're wise to ask for a referral if it doesn't. Good luck with your pregnancy.
