Adding food to MyFitnessPal

I’m trying desperately to lose weight and one of the tools I’m using is MyFitnessPal. I want to add the ingredients for leek and potato soup but because leeks aren’t in my previously used foods, I can’t figure out how to enter it? I have the option to add food but I don’t know how many calories etc are in a single leek. I don’t have packaging for everything either to scan the bar codes!

You should be able to search for the foid type then specify the amount used?

Add foid, type leek, then adjust serving size and weight accordingly.

Don't you just type leeks in the search box and it gives you options to put in you just put the weight if fresh leeks you used.

Yes, as PP says you can search for a food and then choose one. Or, scan the QR code and the info pops up.

As per PP’s suggestion, when I used it before 5/6 years ago, you could type a food in search and it would bring up loads of options. This time round I can’t seem to find that bit!

So there I have the search bit, but no option to search a wider catalogue than recent, frequent, my foods, meals or recipes, so because I haven’t input leeks before, it won’t bring leeks up IYSWIM?

Go to good, the click what meal it's for, in the search box add the word leek and then search.

Not 'good but ' food"

Owlish · 30/12/2018 15:15

Twyll, apologies if you do this, but do you hit 'enter' after inputting your item? This is what brings up more search results.

Owlish · 30/12/2018 15:15

Apologies also for misspelling your name Blush

LosingLola · 30/12/2018 15:16

If you really can't do it because leeks aren't in your recent items, can't you just add a leek for breakfast, then do the recipe, then delete the breakfast leek?

notacooldad · 30/12/2018 15:19

losing is that iver complicating it.
Surely if it's a soup for lunch, for example and it's home made you would just add each ingredient. No need to delete as it makes it easier for next time leek soup is made and needs to be inputted.

TwllBach · 30/12/2018 15:30

Oh good grief Blush

I wasn’t hitting search, Owlish hit the nail on the head! I’m so embarrassed BlushBlush
