My 7mo DD has got horrible chickenpox around her bum. It's all kind of blended together into one blister and looks incredibly sore.

I spoke to the pharmacist and she couldn't really suggest much, has anybody got any suggestions?

Metanium might be helpful. It was brilliant for DD nappy rash so might make a bit of difference in this situation

The yellow one in the tube not the blue squirty one

Ooh I've got some of that, but was unsure as her skin is really broken and I don't want to make it worse. Do you think it'll be ok?

Vaseline and lots of it.

I recall when my DD's were under two yrs old and they both had chicken pox, the nappy areas were horrendous, I even took dd1 to ooh once because it was so bad and she was just crying and not able to sleep at all.

The only thing I found that gave some relief was Vaseline and because it creates a barrier the skin can heal by itself underneath.

You have my sympathy, this was 13 yrs ago and I still remember it well.

I hope your dd is better very soon.

Thank you, I think I'll try Vaseline first.

It's horrible, it's nearly made me cry just looking at it. One minute she's ok, the next she's inconsolable. Unfortunately I think the worst is yet to come.

I'm at a low threshold for calling the dr tomorrow. She's so little.

She's caught it from my nearly 4yo ds and he was ok. She's got it much worse Sad

She’s so little and it sounds rather severe so I’d take to the doctor. I’m sure they won’t mind reassuring you if it turns out they can’t do anything to help.

How is your dd now op?
