Is this gammon going to kill me?

Found a sealed gammon smoked joint back of the fridge. Was sure it was a jan best before but no, date has passed. Sealed up and the plastic isn't bloated and it's v pink. Opened it. Just smells like smoked gammon. Boiled it - again smells quite nice - like smoked gammon. I've chucked it in the slow cooker.

Am I going to die of food poisoning later? Grin

No, it will be fine if it looks ok and smells ok.

Myusername101z · 30/12/2018 14:26

What date

Conseulabananahammock · 30/12/2018 14:27

Sniff test is usually enough. You can smell bad meat from a mile away. Its so sour and generally rancid! You'll be fine.

If it looks ok and smells ok you'll be fine. Enjoy!

So 23rd? No I wouldn't eat meat that was 7 days out of date. I have had food poisoning before and it was horrendous so I wouldn't risk it. What if your sense of smell isn't great?

Queenofthedrivensnow · 30/12/2018 14:42

I think I'll see what it's like when it comes out. I have alternatives for dinner!

I'd eat it if it smelled ok. Wouldn't eat chicken or fish that was a week past its 'use-by' date though.

Nah it's gone. Remembered we have theatre tickets tomorrow baby take the risk!!!
