Easy ways to be more environmentally friendly

Would really like to make a bit more effort in the New Year but constantly short of time so needs to small, easy changes. So far am thinking:

Incorporate more vegetarian evening meals into my repertoire (DD and I generally have meat free lunches anyway)

Switch the kittens from pouches to tinned food as soon as they're a year old as realised recently that the pouches can't be recycled

Try and buy food that's not pre-packaged

I think not flying is probably the biggest change people could make to help the environment.

You could be vegan, hang your washing out instead of using a tumble drier, swap to eco lightbulbs and recycle your cardboard every day, but al that ‘good’ is probably wiped out by flying abroad on holiday and back every summer.

At an average size of 1 MB and 220 working days per year, ADEME has calculated sending work related emails generates 13.6 tonnes of CO2, about 13 round-trip flights from Paris to New York.Times that number by four if you copy 10 people into your message.

Flying is significant but so are emails. Far more so than people realise.

Vow not to have any more children (unless you currently have none).
Just the one and definitely not having any more!

Don't fly on holiday.
I like to travel but have had very little opportunity to do so, so tbh I'm not going to harbour a guilt complex about the rare occasions I'm able to now

Eat locally and seasonally - will definitely pay more attention on this front

Generally live a low key/minimalist/frugal/non-consumerist life... forget about expensive designer handbags made from recycled seatbelts and bamboo toothbrushes.

Haha! Couldn't afford designer eco goodies if I wanted to so that's not a problem.

Interesting point about email storage...Will definitely get onto that.
