Hello penguins

waves at everyone<
I can not see a dry Jan thread so I thought I would start one a few days early so that all of last year's penguins can find it.
Cherrymix MissFitton Ihatebreakfast WeeSausage and all of the penguins that were on last year's threads climb on to the 'berg and join me in a huddle

Hello! I was a bit of a lurker last year. And a couple of years before I think.

I’m on day 364! Smile

Starlight90 · 31/12/2018 17:12

Ive not had a drink for 10 days. Been so ill. I wont have a drink tonight neither. Im struggling to eat let alone drink. I have a night away next month and i really don’t want to go but ive paid £125 so i have to. Ill have a few then thats it. I dont want it.

Angie169 · 31/12/2018 17:13

Ooh hello Gina and biscuit
welcome to the iceberg .
biscuit WELL DONE ! that takes some doing , gina I am on day one !
I managed about 3 months before I got a bit carried away with the Christmas spirit .
I plan to stay dryish for the next two months or so but I will be going for the occasional paddle every now and then

Wow @BiscuitDrama 😳 Amazing. Well done

Gina2012 · 31/12/2018 17:33

I hope you feel better soon @Starlight90

Gina2012 · 31/12/2018 17:34

What made you decide to cut down @Angie169 ?

Skiptotheloo1 · 31/12/2018 17:45

I’m in. I have lurked for the last couple of years on the dry jan threads but feel I’m going to need more support this year.

Managed last year, felt great, lost 12 pounds, was sleeping well .... why did I start drinking again 🤔

thenewaveragebear1983 · 31/12/2018 18:03

I'd like to do this, I think I did last year too, definitely did dry September! I just want to get better sleep, and more of it, and I know that it improves so much after a few weeks off drinking.

Gina2012 · 31/12/2018 18:08

Sleep really improves, doesn't it? I love that.

Cherrymix · 31/12/2018 18:09

Evening Angie. I'm in and looking forward to it. After a good year last year I have rather blotted my copybook in December.

I'm off to a party this eve but can't drink as have to pick up teen DS from something later and to be honest I'm quite glad.

Good luck to everyone joining. We can do this.

Cherrymix · 31/12/2018 18:11

Biscuit - respect!

I'm going to do a spreadsheet this year. Had one last year but mucked it up by muddling up the entries for drinking and dry days towards the end.

I also used the Drinkaware App which is good if you are counting units.

Starlight90 · 31/12/2018 18:22

Thanks all. I am feeling better but not enough for a drink. I really enjoy a glass of wine or a couple of beers at home but really detesting the thought of them now! I have loads in the house but it will be here till next Christmas no doubt! Need to get my fitness back too. Done nothing since October.

Can you believe i ran a marathon and now im back to square one 😡

Cherrymix · 31/12/2018 18:59

Hello all. Not wishing to derail the thread but there has been a bit of duplication due to over enthusiastic Dry January penguins starting duplicate threads so I'm just wondering whether people would like to move to the other thread which is 90 days only?
It seems to suit some people better to be on a thread that is going to disappear

If so it is here:

Angie169 · 31/12/2018 21:11

Gina2012
I realised that when I got home from work I was having on or two cans of cider , some one ( innocently) asked me how often I drink and I found my self lying to them because I did not want them to know I drank everyday . I have always enjoyed a drink but when my DH passed away it became a habit because I was lonely / board .
What about you what has made you decide to cut down ?

What about you what has made you decide to cut down ?

I just don't like the taste any more and I realised I was drinking most days simply from habit Blush
