I wish they'd go home!

Staying with family, so we are not in control. We had a lovely day out with a big group of their friends today, 11am start, on the understanding that it would finish when we returned to the house. We came home at 5pm, and its now half past nine, they're all still here drinking and laughing and having a good time. I just want them to bugger off and let us rest. I know I'm being selfish and unreasonable, and now I'm hiding upstairs whilst they party on...I'm exhausted.

Why can't you go to bed OP?

SuzieAndBess · 29/12/2018 22:03

Fake a headache?

MarmaladeIsMyJam · 29/12/2018 22:04

Go to bed!

ButteryParsnips · 29/12/2018 22:06

Are you sleeping in the living room? If not, just go back down and say you're wishing them good night as you're tired out.

Bloomcounty · 29/12/2018 22:14

They're bellowing in the kitchen, right below outr bedroom. This is going to be a long fucking night. I want to go home, but its a nine hour drive.

That doesn't sound good, but at least if you go to bed there's more distance between you and the noise. I'd still do that.

Can you borrow some headphones and play relaxing music to drown out their noise?

Bloomcounty · 29/12/2018 22:24

Oh I've been doing that, the sound travels as they're all now very drunk so are all now also very loud. I'm also hungry, as we had lunch out and that was at 1pm. Fortunately we had a vcouple of kitkats in our travelling bags. I live rurally and its very quiet round by us, so this city living is a shock to introverted me. I just wish they'd piss off but it looks like they're settled for the night. OH and I are going out alone tomorrow, just for some silence! They're having a great time, so I'm not going to complain to them, but I could cry....

well there is plus

they will probably have a hangover tomorrow and im sure their house will be very quiet as they recover

Bloomcounty · 30/12/2018 09:14

The friends left at 1am and then my sister in law and her hubby sat and talked till 2. I'm enjoying the silence for now. Well, silence apart from the cacophony of snoring from upstairs!!!!! I wish I could rely on the hangover revenge but these two are seasoned drinkers who I've yet to see suffer...they're smart and pace themselves.
