How do I get cheap train tickets to London?

From Manchester at the weekend?

Looking sometime around feb and it is looking at around £60 for a return.

How could I get this down?

£60 is quite good! I looked at advance tickets Liverpool London in March and they were more expensive unless you got a group deal. Sometimes you can get a bargain more last minute.

Depending on the exact date and your timings splitting the ticket at Milton Keynes gets it tobetween £41-45 return.

I travelled from Stoke the other day and did just that.

The train out of London to Watford only takes 15-20 mins (depending if direct or one-two stops), so there’s not much point meeting up with your friend at Euston just to travel the last 15 mins together.

Have you checked the prices of going Manchester- Milton Keyes-Watford (ie avoiding London), as per previous posters’ advice?

Also, Harry Potter tickets sell out weeks in advance sometimes for popular times, so I’d check the exact date you want to go, before booking your trains or making any definite plans.

Yes, I was going to say about booking HP well in advance.

Yes the price is for a change at Milton Keynes. No cheaper.
I am looking at end of feb/start of March so HP tickets should be fine.

I’ve just checked and all Saturdays and Sundays are sold out for 2 adults for HP in February, all Saturdays in March are sold out and there are only evening tickets left for Sundays in March...I really do mean it when I said that tickets sell out weeks in advance! You can’t buy tickets on the door either.

If you can go via Birmingham there are normally cheap tickets on the chiltern line (Marylebone to moot street), then get a train from new street to manc? Might work out more expensive but worth a look!

BramRang · 29/12/2018 23:16

By cheap I mean I once got a £4 single LDN to Birmingham!

As @Wigeon says, HP studio tour tickets for daytime/weekend sell out several months in advance. I booked in June for an October Sunday.
