I am !

I have bought a shiny new notebook.
I have been searching pintrest for bullet journal ideas.
This includes couch to 5k (for the 3rd time)

I really need to sort my health and fatness (not a typo) out .

So if you need a partner in crime to give you a nudge or a kick then please come and join me.

More importantly if you are one of the few miracles out there that day feeling like this last year and actually succeeded please come and tell me your tales.

All welcome.

I managed to end yesterday with calories spare. I am a lot more focused today and I'm planning on cleaning the house (easy exercise!!) and then going on a walk.

@Thecatisboss thank you it's so reassuring to hear.

@1stMrsF I think we need to make small goals. I'm aiming for half a stone each time. So my first goal is to get to 12.5 stone, and then so on until I reach 10 stone (just into my healthy weight bracket). It seems doable and breaks it up. Rather than going 13-10, I'm having smaller and more achievable goals, and I'm going to treat myself to a small reward each time I hit them. My mind set it no longer 'I have to loose 5 stone' it's 'I need to loose half a stone and then I'm closer to a healthy weight'. And once I get to a healthy weight I can then decide whether or not I need to loose more or not.

RubySlippers77 · 03/01/2019 14:36

Well done to everyone who's sticking to it! I'm so full of cold I can hardly breathe and the DC are being utter little horrors. At the moment I would pay £££ to anyone who'd adopt them look after them for a bit and leave me with a comfy sofa, rubbish TV and loads of chocolate...

PatPhoenix · 03/01/2019 16:44

Doing OK food wise but a friend is coming round for dinner and a bottle of wine seems to have fallen into my shopping trolley. oh well, I'm not doing dry January or veganuary or anything like that. Still aiming not to have potato with dinner, I'd rather have a glass of wine than mash. Mostly.

Shockers · 03/01/2019 16:45

@Thecatisboss- that’s fantastic!

I’m only 15 miles into my 200- gonna have to step it up.

Making a lentil cottage pie for tea tonight. Hoping nobody moans about the lack of meat (I don’t eat it but they do).

ShahOfSplosh · 03/01/2019 16:55

Imo the whole idea of trying to lose weight when it's cold and dark isn't logical.
It can be a miserable time of year for many, why pile guilt on top of that?
I'm not saying don't do it, just don't feel bad if you don't start in January!
Having said that, I know I will be back to my exercise routine next week.

GimmeBread · 03/01/2019 19:19

I think I've given myself too much to think about and setting myself up for failure - I was planning on giving up sugar and booze and taking up exercise. Nah, that's not going to happen! Therefore, I'll do DryJan and give up alcohol.

My asthma is pretty bad just now and it gets worse in the winter - that cold is a lung-killer! So no extra exercise because i will make myself ill. All things considered, I think alcohol is the better one to give up.

Well done to everyone who's made a start! 👏

UnnecessaryFennel · 03/01/2019 19:47

I've signed up to MFP - had to change the macros a bit because I try to eat low-carb as much as possible (when I'm not stuffing my face with chocolate and booze, that is...)

DP and ds did a chip-shop run tonight - I declined and ate cold roast lamb with cheese, celery and olives instead Grin

Howlongtillbedtime · 03/01/2019 20:45

I have been to zumba and it didn't kill me so that's good ! I actually smiled all the way through. Was tough but I will definitely go again next week.

Well done everyone that has made a start this week. It I a bit of a long haul but I am cutting it into 3.5 pounds at a time with a little treat after each 3.5 pounds.
Things like a kindle book or nice fineliners and a new pair of jeans.

It is daunting thinking about the long haul ahead but I would be so happy to not be doing a thread like this next year.

Done a 7.5km run today and 45 minutes circuits (and I ran there too, but it's only 200m away!). Good day diet wise yesterday, but today not so good as I had a moment with some cheese.

I'd like to do my long run tomorrow as the children are out with mil, so that should hopefully offset today's Brie-incident.

diamantegal · 03/01/2019 22:15

Hmm. Today was going so well. Healthy lunch, and gym after work meant I was technically in negative calories. And then we realised that as DS is at his grandparents overnight, it would be rude not to take advantage and go out for dinner. I'm taking some consolation from the fact it was a Chinese restaurant (so nicer than takeaway) but I'm clutching at straws, given there's a glass of wine next to me. Oh well, in it for the long haul and all that - and I'm properly achy from the gym so I must have done some good...

Howlongtillbedtime · 04/01/2019 07:04

Morning all fellow shiny new people.

diamantegal The difference is that last night you went for a lovely meal but did healthy stuff all day.
Last week you would have gone anyway after eating cheese and assorted carbs all day.
Still a win in my book.

My plan today is
Soup for lunch and a jacket spud for dinner with tuna and salad.pic

Not sure if I will manage couch to 5k today but if not I will have to do two runs over the weekend.

Good luck all!

I’m joining in too! Just started a much easier treatment regime for my cancer and am wanting to get fitter again and lose the 20+Kg I have gained over the last two years. Today was pretty good food wise. No exercise beyond shopping and housework but booked in for spin tomorrow morning. First time in four years. Terrifying!

GimmeBread · 04/01/2019 15:15

Hmmm well I've eaten some chocolate sweeties today as well as a couple of coconut macaroons and I've got to say I feel sluggish and not great! Yesterday I was much better and only had a couple of squares of really dark chocolate.

Day 1 of DryJan completed but the real test of willpower will be tonight and tomorrow!

VanillaSugarCookies · 04/01/2019 18:10

Ended up eating in a restaurant at 11pm last night. Not ideal, however, I decided that I wasn't going to ruin my progress so I logged the calories on today's meals. (I'm sorry if that isn't allowedBlushConfused). I really didn't want to go over 1,200.

It left me with 470 calories to eat today and I have ended up doing a mini fast and to be honest I'm not actually hungry, but I will be making a low cal meal to stop myself from potentially having a snacksident later onGrin

Crisis averted, even if I'm not allowed to do it that way...Blush

PatPhoenix · 04/01/2019 20:31

Poised on a knife edge. I have 0 (count them) calories left, and it's 8.30 and I'm on the sofa. I coudl get away with a cup of coffee.

[runs hot bath]

MawkishTwaddle · 04/01/2019 21:16

I’ve snacked. I had no lunch due to a late breakfast, and a light tea. I’m also knackered due to two crap nights’ sleep, and so consequently I’ve been grazing all evening. Malt loaf with Philly Light, a packet of mini cheddars, yoghurt, ham out of the packet, ffs Hmm

I hate it when I’m like this.

Positives are that I did my Davina dvd and walked the dogs, and I managed not to have a gin and tonic.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/01/2019 21:41

I've eaten a lot today (1900 cals) but kept low carb, no sugar. I did 21k steps and ran 13km, hence the slightly larger calorie intake!
Still no alcohol, although I would have been tempted by a glass of wine if there had been one offered!

I'm aiming for a fasting day tomorrow, 800 cals, lots of water, early morning boot camp. Sounds miserable doesn't it??!!

VanillaSugarCookies · 04/01/2019 23:00

I managed a 402 calorie tea and a 50 calorie snack which leaves me with 15 left for today.

I'm yet to see any results on the scale. And yes I know Ive only been doing it for 4 days. I'm impatient.Sad

Violetroselily · 05/01/2019 07:51

Just did my first couch to 5k run - nowhere near as bad as I feared. I plan on doing all of them twice, as I'm trying to be realistic (I'm massively overweight and unfit)

Swam my first mile this week too, I usually just do 1km but kept going this time

Just need to get the eating habits under control too

PatPhoenix · 05/01/2019 08:25

Shock violetroselily if you are regularly swimming 1k I don't think you are that unfit! My experience with c25k is that progression is reasonably straightforward for the first three weeks - why don't you try and see how you get on? I needed to repeat week 4 but I made it OK. I was very, very overweight then though I was cycling to work which helped a little.

I managed just to have my cup of coffee and a hot bath last night after dinner instead of fridge surfing. I got on the scales this morning and I'm down at 86.6 kilos - sorry to record this precisely but it's the lightest I've been probably since - well, I think it's probably since 1995! I'm absolutely amazed. But I'd forgotten that I've been doing myfitnesspal since 2015 Shock

GimmeBread · 05/01/2019 09:11

I ate half a big box of Toffifee last night 🤨 At least that's it out the way and there is nothing left to binge on. Oh crap I'm a liar - there's still a bag of gingerbread popcorn. I'll eat that today and then that will be it!

I've got coeliac disease so thankfully I can't eat the muggle stuff that's lying around after Xmas!

Howlongtillbedtime · 05/01/2019 09:34

Sounds like everyone is doing fab !

The weekend is always going to be a danger point for me so I have decided my weigh in day will be Sunday. And that fits in nicely with my bullet journal and of week stuff.
I didn't have a great day yesterday but it was still better than a lot of previous days.
I did have wine last night and some crisps but are healthy other than that.

Today I will do wk2 r2 of couch to 5k and I am making a veggie curry for dinner.

Good luck all!

Violetroselily · 05/01/2019 15:26

@PatPhoenix I really am very unfit, having done no exercise for about 10 years and I'm about 7 stone overweight. My stamina is certainly improving though, so hoping the combination of swimming and C25k will help me change for good.

Well done on your weight loss

NeedChoos · 05/01/2019 20:06

I have been religiously logging food amd staying 7nder my calories and did my yoga vid ...so not exactly setting the world on fire but I’ll take a win for not opening the grab bag of crisps.

PatPhoenix · 05/01/2019 20:11

Ooh dear, I'm back in the same danger spot, eaten all my calories including a large glass of wine, and sitting on the sofa watching the Torvill and Dean documentary.

At least today I've done a big chunk of exercise, so in theory I have some more calories, but in my experience you can't eat nearly as many calories as MFP gives you for exercise and still lose weight.

I guess part of this is recognising the moments when it gets really tricky. Erm, embroidery anybody? [fingers twitching]
