Thai Cave Divers honoured

This was one of the most amazing news stories of the year and I am so pleased to see the divers were given medals and honours. I especially liked the fact that they were very low key about their achievements and you kind of get the feeling they would be happier to be off exploring a cave somewhere than accepting praise for their heroics.

These are people who deserve it, not 'celebrities' who are honoured for being famous...

Absolutely agree with everyone here. People who have gone beyond their remit should be hnoured. People who receive an honour just because they are a celebrity don't deserve their gongs.

One of DD old teachers received a well deserved gong a few years ago for services to music and education. She is now raising huge sums for charity and, IMO, deserves another one.

I’m always when you hear about celebrity’s eg Tom hardy and Kiera knightly who are getting honours for thier ‘services to drama’!! They get paid a shitload of money (many many times more than nurses and teachers and police etc) todo something they love and by default then get a load of advantages, perks and connections to make even more money! Hardly putting themselves on the line!!

I didn't know that but very glad to hear the Thai divers have got honours. Well deserved.
