Would you recommend your sofa?

Trying to buy new furniture, waah!!

I thought we'd struck gold going into a new Natuzzi store. Lots of choice for us, sofas appeared to be decent quality, if a little on the expensive side but you get what you pay for, right?

Came home and now see that reviews for them are not so great, quality is similar to DFS/SCS allegedly. Sad

Purposefully avoided Sofology as not heard great things about them either. However, trustpilot gives them a very good rating.
Is it all just the luck of the draw?

Our current sofa came from Harveys which has lasted a good 15 years and pretty solid pummelling from dogs/kids. It would probably do a few more but we are moving and would like nice, shiny new things!

Where did you buy you sofas and would you recommend them?

I'm on my second sofokogy sofa. First was 5 years old when we got rid, still in really good condition. Fabric fine bar one tiny rip that happened during a move. Charity shop took it happily. We only got rid as we moved to a inch bigger house.

Love my new one, we have a large 4 seater m, a chair and a 2 seater along with a long footstool. Looks stylish and is really comfortable. I bought extra scatter cushions though as the ones that came with it were a bit drab.

feltcarrot · 29/12/2018 08:36

We had brown leather sofas from HoF that lasted a good 12 years until we bought new ones from M&S that are really poor quality, seams coming away on the arm cushions and loose threads.
Will probably have to replace in a year or so.

Joinourclub · 29/12/2018 08:39

I have an m and s sofa and a made sofa. My m and s one is a trillion times more comfy.

We have m&s sofas that are now 15 years old and still in great condition. Very large and comfortable and look as good as new.

GoofyIsACow · 29/12/2018 08:42

We have a dfs one and if i could afford to skip it i would, i am still paying for the bloody thing! I think i have two months payments left.
The legs arenearly snapping off, the leg did snap off the footstool, that’s long gone.
So not only do i NOT recommend DFS... i am interested to hear your recommendations!

Mokepon · 29/12/2018 08:44

Yes, our very first sofa was dfs. Wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. Had it 4 years and it was probably 3 years too long. Terrible quality.

We are sofa shopping today so keen to hear stories too.

Anyone got a next sofa? They come in the colours we like in the style we want. Everywhere else seems to favour drab colours.

SymphonyofShadows · 29/12/2018 08:45

I’ve got a Multiyork one and one from Made. Both are really comfy, the Made one was one of their more pricy ones and I can lay flat on it and use it as a bed. It’s like sleeping on clouds. The Multiyork one is a two seater.

mogtheexcellent · 29/12/2018 08:46

Our current sofas are Australian ones we got off freecycle 10 years ago. They have lasted well but looking a bit worn now.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 29/12/2018 08:49

We have a really big one from Dwell. It felt great in the shop and can fit about 6 people on it but it's not very comfortable. I miss the Ikea sofa we got rid of to make room for it. It was a 2 seater Tidafors and it was so comfy.

LesLavandes · 29/12/2018 08:53

I have had a Natuzzi sofa for 15 years and it was excellent quality. Sold it recently as moved house.

PrettyLovely1 · 29/12/2018 08:53

I bought a dfs one absolutely stank of chemicals for the first week, so bad I had to keep the windows open, I got rid of it after 6 months awful fabric and uncomfortable, current sofa is from oak furnitureland and is the best sofa I have ever bought, Really comfortable, great fabric that doesnt dirty easily with kids and its really big. Really good value for the price I managed to get it delivered within a week so no long waiting times either.

tryinganewname · 29/12/2018 08:57

All my sofas (well, the two sofas I've bought since living out of parents) have been from DFS and have been great.

Hiphopopotamous · 29/12/2018 08:59

Check out sofasofa - I was sceptical of buying online but we knew the style we wanted and the price was way better than the usual shops. Quality has been excellent. Looks like new after 5+ years with toddler/cat.

theveryhighlife · 29/12/2018 09:01

Don't go with next. That's what we have - they're really really poor quality

Mokepon · 29/12/2018 09:04

Thanks for all the info.

Erm, Sofasofa looks incredibly inexpensive!

Ours is from Nabru. It's about 5 years old and has at least another 5 years in it. The covers are washable and you can buy spare sets. As you can design it yourself, and it's flat packed, it's guaranteed to fit through your door and in your room.

GinTimeAtHome · 29/12/2018 09:09

This is my current one it’s a next gosford,

www.next.co.uk/homeware/sofas-chairs/Gosford-Studded/size-Large-Sofa-(3-Seats)-fabric-Studio-Texture-Dark-Teal-feet-Low-Turned-Light

Not in that colour!!

Got it from eBay for £150 and it’s so lovely - it’s a lot deeper than our last sofa and I’m so happy with it.

I don’t spend a lot on sofas mainly due to 2 x small people and lots of animals! I’ve had a different next one, a Laura Ashley one, a large corner one from habitat which was nice but again quite old when we got it and lasted a good couple of years.

My brother had a sofaoly one and he’s had so many problems with it.

AllTheCakes · 29/12/2018 09:12

Our current one is from Sofas and Stuff. They have a cheaper Pronto range which is what we have, as well as a more premium range.

We have had two sofas from them and been very impressed.

Doje · 29/12/2018 09:18

My last two sofas have been from DFS and I've been very happy with them. My old one is still going and is 10+ years old. Looks a bit shabby now but is so comfy I can't throw it away! New one just 6 months in, but I can't fault the quality and the customer service was excellent.

Creas35 · 29/12/2018 09:20

We have lounge co, we found them on Instagram and you can find them in Jarrolds as well as some other stores, seems quite independent and they do offers like 15% off. So much choice on sofa choice , fabric and colour. We love them!!

donquixotedelamancha · 29/12/2018 09:20

I love our settees. We bought a 3 seater, 2 seater, big armchair and a footstool £1750 delivered (about 6 months ago). All leather, chesterfield style.

I found a local manufacturers on eBay and haggled for what we wanted. Took 3 weeks to make and deliver.

The same set was £4000 and 12 weeks delivery from the big stores.

hollyhaphazard · 29/12/2018 09:23

We have John Lewis ones that are 4 years old and absolutely awful quality. They need to be replaced despite really light usage.

Zeitgei5t · 29/12/2018 09:24

Ours are sofasofa 8 years and 2 kids and 1 cat on still going fine. (And the 6yo likes to jump off the arms Hmm )

Babdoc · 29/12/2018 09:25

I got mine about 20 years ago, online, from Oakridge. Still going strong! They make them with removable, washable fabric covers. I’ve bought one set of new covers (after about ten years).
The prices are very reasonable, as they’re sold direct from their factory.
Not a huge range of styles, but worth having a look in case they have one you like.
