Would you recommend your sofa?

Trying to buy new furniture, waah!!

I thought we'd struck gold going into a new Natuzzi store. Lots of choice for us, sofas appeared to be decent quality, if a little on the expensive side but you get what you pay for, right?

Came home and now see that reviews for them are not so great, quality is similar to DFS/SCS allegedly. Sad

Purposefully avoided Sofology as not heard great things about them either. However, trustpilot gives them a very good rating.
Is it all just the luck of the draw?

Our current sofa came from Harveys which has lasted a good 15 years and pretty solid pummelling from dogs/kids. It would probably do a few more but we are moving and would like nice, shiny new things!

Where did you buy you sofas and would you recommend them?

M&S Abbey! Can’t be beaten for us!!

GingerbreadBlob · 29/12/2018 11:50

No. Advice is give myself is, make sure the back isn't too high, as you'll end up with neck ache, day after day.

My old sofas, my mums sofa, the bit behind the head is low - I'd recommend that.

Also I love an armchair. Not very practical these days, but I do love sitting in them.

One of my sofas is from m&s and really comfortable and hard wearing. My other is from next, really comfortable and great quality, but took a bit longer to be delivered.

Love our sofilogy 2 seaters. 18 months old look new. Really comfy and big which is important to us. Great delivery experience and no complaints from me!

CreativeMumma · 29/12/2018 12:16

We have a Nabru sofa and it's great because you can design it yourself however after 5years it so uncomfortable, the covers are washable but never got back on properly, it's super heavy to move and I can't wait to replace it. it was cheaper than others we looked at but I would say in balance it wasn't worth what we did pay.

starsinyourpies · 29/12/2018 15:12

Sofa.com they have a few showrooms too but we've been very happy with three sofas

LindaLa · 29/12/2018 15:26

Another one saying tidafors from Ikea.

I love it. High back and so comfy.

Baaaaaaaaaaaa · 29/12/2018 15:52

Any manufacturer of good, quality furniture will back that with a good guarantee (frame only - fabric will always wear out) . There are manufacturers who offer a liftime guarantee, some only 2/5 years. I know which one I’d go for.

I have got four next sofas in different rooms and I love them all! Two are 100% wool tweed and two a cotton/linen blend. They have kept their shape and are hardwearing. No problems at all, 30 months old.

I think they are really well made. Prior to that I had huge tetrad sofas which were better but we were downsizing and needed four smaller sofas. Because I needed four I couldn't afford tetrad!

BikeRunSki · 29/12/2018 15:58

Our Laura Ashley sofas are 13 years old and going strong, despite 2 dc.

4forkssake · 29/12/2018 16:14

We have Barker & Stonehouse & after 17 years, it's still going strong. Not cheap but deffo worth it when I read about people replacing theirs after a few years. Feather cushions & washable covers.

DramaAlpaca · 29/12/2018 16:21

We've just replaced our 25 year old M&S sofas, which were getting very scruffy.

I reckon with DFS and the like you are paying a premium for the huge, glossy showrooms, so we went to a local furniture shop and got a couple of lovely sofas for much less than we'd have paid there. Very happy so far.

The most difficult thing was finding something that DH & I both liked the look of and that we both found comfy.

riotlady · 29/12/2018 16:24

Ours is Sofology and it’s great, dark grey fabric which has held up remarkably well against baby sick, milk and beer.

mogtheexcellent · 29/12/2018 18:22

Well back from shopping and have ordered some basic ones from dfs. Will be interesting to see how they last.

3out · 29/12/2018 18:33

Our sofa is from ikea (ektorp, I think). Really uncomfortable and sagging badly. So disappointing.

keepingbees · 29/12/2018 18:39

We had a furniture village sofa which was sold as leather but turned out to only be bonded leather. It started peeling after only a couple of years and looked a total mess.
We had a Harvey's leather sofa which was lovely and felt good quality.
Currently have a cheap dfs sofa which is doing ok. Covers have survived being washed multiple times. We are looking at Ikea sofas at the moment so interested in following this.

Mokepon · 29/12/2018 19:50

Well done, mogtheexcellent.
We had a look at Ikea today, quite liked a couple there but had grouchy kids in tow so still under consideration.
Thanks for all the info!!

I have just fallen in love with the Positano loose cover sofas from Sofa Sofa... i shouldn’t have entered this thread! 😂🙈

Northernlass45 · 02/01/2019 22:00

We bought a Wesley Barrand five years ago which wasn't the cheapest but looks as good as new which given the abuse given by the kids and the hubby and the pets it's amazing it's still here.

Doobydoo · 02/01/2019 22:00

2 velvety ones from Made. So far so fab!
