Would you still go out tonight?

Bit of a WWYD.

Thursday evening I was ill with sickness and diarrhoea. Felt fine by lunchtime yesterday. Baby had a few loose nappies. And my DD was up in the night being sick. Everyone has woken up feeling fine

I'm meant to be going to my friends birthday evening tonight, have babysitter booked and children will be asleep when she gets here.

I can't go can I? Incase the kids don't feel well again or it was passed onto her?

Not sure what to do?

Asking early as I want to give babysitter plenty of notice so can't really see how they go during the day.

I think you've answered yourself already OP. I wouldn't thank you if I was the babysitter, coming into a house of D&V. Or if I was sitting next to you at the birthday do.
It's crap but I do think you've got to sit this one out.

Loopytiles · 29/12/2018 07:58

The sitter may be willing to sit and risk the virus, but would not be U should she not wish to. Shame for her too as she will not be paid.

48 hr rule!

Imagine how you would feel if someone told you that they were recovering from a d&v bug but came anyway Angry

RedWineIsFabulous · 29/12/2018 08:04

Of course you can’t go and it’s crazy you have to ask on a social media website.

Seriously. I wonder these fucking bugs are so rife because so
Many say “ but I feel fine” now.

You and your children are still contagious and you should follow the 48 hour rule.

Jeez

newcupcake · 29/12/2018 08:11

Aside from the obvious 48 hour rule I wouldn't enjoy the night as I'd be constantly worrying about what if the kids wake up and need me

Blackladybug · 29/12/2018 08:12

Thanks all, that's what I thought.

Have cancelled babysitter who was lovely about it and I'll give her a bit extra next time as she's fairly regular.

I wouldn't, I don't think your babysitter would thank you either. Where you going to tell her before she came?

LuckyAmy1986 · 29/12/2018 08:22

The OP said she was asking as she wanted to give the babysitter lots of notice. So yes she was planning to tell her ffs!

Mississippilessly · 29/12/2018 08:25

You have made the right decision but how disappointing for you!
I don't understand why people feel the need to be so snarky.

TinyBarista · 29/12/2018 08:29

Ah that's sorted then. Enjoy the unexpected cosy night in with your DC!
