Really hot in bed

Candolim97 · 29/12/2018 00:37

I have a 10.5 tog duvet, window open, no radiators on. My bedroom doesn’t feel warm at all
Yet as soon as I get in bed I’m roasting

I’m not one of those people who is constantly hot during the day either Confused

Are you menopausal?

Hubblebubbletripletrouble · 29/12/2018 00:42

Do you get hot during the day as well?

Any new medication?

Hubblebubbletripletrouble · 29/12/2018 00:43

(Has your DH secretly installed an electric blanket? Grin )

tittietinsel · 29/12/2018 00:43

Temperature was not what I expected to be reading about Grin

neverbee · 29/12/2018 00:45

Was expecting a completely different post then! What pjs are you wearing? And is it all the time because I always get too hot in bed for about 3 nights just before my period.

Candolim97 · 29/12/2018 00:53

Ha Grin

I’m only wearing a loose tshirt, not menopausal or on medication
Ohh but now that you mention it I’m roughly 3 days away from my period, I don’t remember feeling this hot before it in the past though - strange

I've found it quite hot in the evenings recently but I think it's to do with my heating which was on quite high all day. Husband feels the same. Drink more water.

TheBaltictriangle · 29/12/2018 01:40

Swap the quilt for a blanket or sheet.

Open the loft hatch to let the excess heat escape through the roof space.

Adjust the thermostat by a degree or two.

Drink loads of water

BarbaraofSevillle · 29/12/2018 06:51

Your duvet is far too thick. We have a 4.5 tog all year round and it's plenty apart from the dead of winter. I'm currently roasting in an unheated room, but I am probably peri menopausal.

Autu · 29/12/2018 08:44

Also a 4.5 tog here all year round. Have a heavy blanket folded in a strip at the bottom which i tuck my feet under when I first get in! 4.5 is plenty and a window open here too. You can always pull the blanket up if it’s really cold. I’m also hot in the nights a few days to a week before my period.

TheFaerieQueene · 29/12/2018 08:52

I have a sheet between the duvet and cover and me. I kick the duvet off and keep the sheet on. That said I use a 4:5 tog all year round as well. I’m hot stuff!

Tefiti2 · 29/12/2018 08:54

@Candolim87 I hate to be one of those people, but, feeling hot at night was one of my first early preg symptoms... is there any chance you may be?

missyB1 · 29/12/2018 08:57

I have windows wide open, large glass of ice water by my bed, and a cold gel pad in my pillow case (kept in fridge all day).

But I’m 50 and menopausal!

bonzo77 · 29/12/2018 09:09

I get extremely hot and sweaty in the few days before my period. Wake up in a wet patch with sticky hair and drenched night clothes.

Almondio · 29/12/2018 09:13

I've always suffered with overheating in bed, and it does get worse in the week before my period. I'm early 40s so not quite menopausal but I suspect it'll get worse in the next few years. I get very hot when I exercise too (not overweight, fit and healthy), it's just a thing, my Dad is the same so possibly genetic.

My main tips are to wear very little in bed and invest in a wool duvet (Google it) which has made a massive difference to me maintaining a regular temp in bed.

redsky21 · 29/12/2018 09:15

Do you have a memory foam mattress by any chance? I tried one for a few nights but kept waking up in a hot sweat and had to get rid of it.

Windgate · 29/12/2018 09:38

Possibly pregnant or coming down with something

CottonSock · 29/12/2018 09:41

I have suffered this since I was in my 20s. Insomnia is the cause. I have a 4 tog in winter, a 1 tog in summer. Dh has his own. A fan by bed. Sometimes I escape to sofa. Gel pillow.

I can lie shivering on sofa covered in blankets in eve. Soon as i am in bed I start cooking. It's annoying as cuddles make me too hot

wowfudge · 29/12/2018 10:19

We've had the heating on more as we're off work and upstairs has felt boiling hot to me. Last night I was so hot I went up to the attic, where the heating is off with the thermostat turned right down. I was still baking then realised my period is due.

OrdinaryGirl · 29/12/2018 18:19

4.5 tog duvet all year round here. Dressing gown over the top if it gets really cold. And I'm quite a chilly mortal. If I had a 10.5 tog duvet I'd be absolutely on fire.
