I am looking to locate an NCP car park that is underground and close to some sort of convention centre?? We used it 2 years ago and want to drive straight there in a few days when visiting Manchester.

Was walkable to the Arndale Centre and TGIF if that helps.....!

Thanks in advance.

This one? Walkable to arndale but not close to TgI that I can think of?

HolyMountain · 28/12/2018 20:15

Deansgate?

EggysMom · 28/12/2018 20:17

Bottomplasters has found the correct one if it was 'underground' (it's actually in the old arches under the convention centre, formerly known as G-Mex, not sure of its latest name).

You'd walk past TGIF on the way to the Arndale.

EricNorthmanIsMine · 28/12/2018 20:18

Sounds like Manchester Central NCP which is underneath the conference centre (Manchester Central, used to be the G-Mex) ... it's opposite the Bridgewater Hall?

NightlyCircus · 28/12/2018 20:20

Everywhere is walkable in Manchester City Centre, so don’t worry too much about parking too far away! NCP Manchester Central is underneath the Manchester Central convention centre (used to be GMEX).

For the Arndale/TGI Fridays you could also try NCP Arndale or the Q Park in Deansgate.

Don’t park in the NCP on Deansgate/Blackfriars- it’s really horrible, dark, leaky and feels dangerous.

RomanyRoots · 28/12/2018 20:22

We park on The Arena car park, very cheap if you aren't going to an event there.

dontneedthedrama · 28/12/2018 20:25

www.ncp.co.uk/find-a-car-park/car-parks/manchester-market-place-jv/ Deansgate on Blackfriars street but there are a few walking distance but I'd go with Deansgate about 5 min walk .

4strings · 28/12/2018 20:26

Arena (old Boddington’s) is even cheaper if you aren’t there for an Arena event.

You’re talking about the one opposite the Bridgewater Hall which is an absolute sod to get to.

Alexandra2018 · 28/12/2018 20:37

Yeah sounds like the one that seems part of the g mex building there's a big screen up there now it's just off deansgate locks

marmiteandcheeseoncrumpetspls · 28/12/2018 20:52

Thanks all so much - it had arches so is the Central one a few of you have mentioned.

DH and DS are going to Old Trafford on Sunday and are insisting this is the best place for me to drop them off so they can grab a quick coffee and then use the tram to get there. DD and me are then going to the Trafford Centre for a few hours. I've tried to tell him to get a bus from the Trafford Centre instead but he is insisting on this bloody tram thing. And breathe....

Thanks for the help everyone!

Hmmm. There’s a ton of roadworks coming into the city centre at the moment, so if that’s not your final destination it’s worth trying to avoid driving in.

If I were you, get off the M60 at Stretford, drop them off at Stretford tram stop (direct trams to Old Trafford). You’re then about 10 mins drive away from the Trafford Centre, without having to get back on the motorway.

ForalltheSaints · 28/12/2018 21:43

Get the tram from somewhere outside the centre.

Ontheboardwalk · 28/12/2018 21:54

As Nightly said there are tons of roadworks in Manchester, don’t be heading into the centre just for them to get on a tram. You'll be stuck in traffic for ages. Even United can’t make it in time for matches due to the traffic

Agree drop them at Stratford tram stop or get them on the bus at the Trafford Centre, don’t be driving into the city centre

Oh wow. Thanks for the inside info - much appreciated x
