Do you keep ‘naice’ carrier bags..

I’m obviously turning into my mother (who never chucks anything away) but post-Xmas, I’ve ended up with some posh carriers - the ones you get from nice clothes shops.
Seems a waste to just throw them all into the recycling. If you keep them, what do you use them for?!

I keep nice carrier bags to,um,carry around in my bag for when I need a carrier bag... (Smile). It cheers my up a little bit to have something betters than an Asda bag.I am a sad person, obviously!
But I did make myself recycle the thick paper bags ( such as Monsoon give you,for example) because I never reuse those even though I am sure they should be useful for something...

I keep ALL carrier bags - they're 5 or 10p a pop now!

mammmamia · 28/12/2018 20:27

I keep them all and reuse them until they fall apart, then recycle.
My mum just gave me a load that she’s been hoarding. Some of them are 20 years old and are gift bags I remember getting at school Shock

Alexandra2018 · 28/12/2018 20:33

I keep them all
Sometimes there packed lunch or shoes for work bags

SoyDora · 28/12/2018 20:35

I keep all carrier bags to reuse them... not paying 10p every time we go shopping!

dorasmith · 28/12/2018 20:39

Recycle the bags or use them indoors only. Think it looks silly and obvious when people take the posher bags into shops and supermarkets months later. Totally out of place!

I have never ever, not once in my life, noticed what bags other people take into the supermarket!

I keep all carrier bags to reuse anyway.
I did before the charge came in, tbh. Why would you throw something away that you can re-use ? Confused

Better / stronger ones I use for keeping in my handbag / the shopping trolley / the cars to use when you next go to a shop.
Cheaper ones I use if I need to put something wet or muddy either inside another bag (say a swimming costume) or in the car (say football boots or rugby boots or walking boots etc).

I have a collection of them if you need to carry several things and won't be getting the bag back - so donating at Harvest or to the foodbank or to a charity shop or when sending things in to school.

If you don't ever use them yourself, the foodbanks are always in need of them - please don't just put them in the bin or recycling.

TellerTuesday4EVA · 28/12/2018 20:46

Of course you keep them!! If not what do you keep in your carrier bag cupboard???

missmouse101 · 28/12/2018 20:50

I keep bag for life bags only. Those posh ones annoy me, but the charity shop is always pleased to have them for the counter!

Fabulouslyfatatfifty · 28/12/2018 20:54

I only keep bags for life too, everything else gets recycled. I used to keep stuff but lived in a huge house, moving and downsizing was a nightmare so when I am tempted to keep something that I don't need - like a nice poshly branded ribbon/card/paper carrier bag I remind myself of all the crap I had to get rid of!

1vandal2 · 28/12/2018 21:01

Councils cannot recycle carrier bags so every person who's put them in the recycling has condemned that entire lorry to landfill.
They should be returned to supermarkets only.

Fabulouslyfatatfifty · 28/12/2018 21:10

You are wrongly assuming that they are all plastic and we are thick 1vandal2.
