Email from Next to say my parcel has been collected - I didn't collect it

Has this happened to anyone else before?

I did an online order with delivery into store. I got an email at lunchtime today to say that it was ready for collection.

I've just had another email to say "Your order has been collected" and "Thanks for picking up your order." It wasn't collected by me!

Obviously I've sent an email to customer care but has this happened to anyone else before?

Thank you for your reply @WeAreTheHeroes but I never received any confirmation email from them after the one they sent me stating the item hadn’t arrived, so how would they have obtained this code and from whom, for the item to have been collected? Apologies, but I don’t understand how this amounts to an error in updating their systems when processing my order? Could you please elaborate?

It’s better form to open a new thread on this topic @anadraxel32 - people typically don’t read the full thread so won’t be responding to you, but will be to the OP.

The process for collections has changed at Next in 3 years (in the local ones I’ve been to, anyway) so any advice from OP could be outdated - even if she still remembers or even uses Mumsnet.

That's what I mean: it's a system error. No parcel was delivered for anyone to collect.

@WalkingOnSonshine Forgot to say, I was only after what the outcome was of their experience with this same problem, ie, were they refunded/was the item replaced, etc? I wasn’t seeking advice.

@Viviennemary The enquiry was what the outcome was after being incorrectly notified by Next that their item had been collected when it wasn’t. Do you comprehend the meaning of “outcome”?
