NC for this as I was just about to anyway and it might have got confusing if I did it mid-thread.
Despite me hiding all the obvious Christmas threads, it inevitably crept into almost everything else and was impossible to avoid on MN. Now that the big day is finally over, the post-mortems have begun in earnest and there is still the minefield of New Year’s Eve to contend with.
Perhaps now would be a good time to nail down our strategies for 2019 and actually remember to communicate them to friends and family now to avoid all the last-minute hand-wringing about who goes where and how much money will get frittered away on unwanted tat.
I could go on for pages, but I’ll start us off with just two:
If you want to have next Christmas in your own home as a little family unit then tell everybody that now.
If you don’t intend to buy gifts/don’t want to receive gifts then tell everybody that now. This also applies to “token” gifts (which often seem to be what a lot of people would consider an actual, nice gift anyway).
