Has anyone ever suffered from chronic hives?

My dsis came up in lots of hives over her body, about 8-10 weeks ago. She is a cleaner and both her and her cleaning partner came up in the hives so they put it down to some kind of cleaning product they’d been using. However, the friends hives have disappeared but dsis is still suffering. A week ago she also started to experience a swollen throat and tongue and went to a walk-in centre. They put her on short term steroids and her go has referred her for allergy testing. She is still getting hives each day and today her gp has taken her off the steroids and given her an epi-pen and told her to wait for the allergy testing appointment to come through. Dsis is in a right state (I’ve told her not to get stressed as this will make it worse). Has anyone had this and did you find out what was the cause?

Yes, many years ago I started coming out in hives if I got cold or hot!
Even walking from my car to the hospital front door on a winter morning was enough for my face to erupt.

I was prescribed some very strong antihistamines, but over time, it just went away. I do live in slight fear of it returning just as randomly as it did before though.

My sil has this - she did once get relief from a Chinese herbal brew that a practioner prescribed .But sadly it didn't continue to work .

She is prescribed high doses of anti histamines ,I think about 4 x normal dose .

It comes and goes with her .Stress makes it worse .
