Anyone feeling a bit flat today?

We’re all home from the Christmas family visits. DH has gone to take MIL to the station and do a food shop. I’m at home with a 5yo and a slightly poorly 2yo and a mountain of laundry and unpacking.

What’s everyone else up to?

It is limbo time, which is why I try to get to the allotment every day in between.

Today I am setting up a new composter. And the sun has just come out.

huzzah.

Latte Flowers
Wally you are right of course. Nothing really to moan about here just a bit meh after all the build up.

Popped in on the elderlies and now going to wrangle a bit more washing before cleaning the bathroom!

DonaldDucksTowel · 28/12/2018 12:00

Yep there’s always such a lull isn’t there
I just don’t know what to do with myself, routines have gone to shit, house is upside down and there’s nowhere to go and nothing to do
It’s so weird Confused

i am so bored I'm going to clear out a set of drawers full of "craft" crap.

wallyfeatures · 28/12/2018 12:09

This might sum it up for some of you

Today we are taking the dogs to the paddocks so my rescue can run off the lead without escaping. Tonight I am going to a friends for Chinese food.

I am pissed off that everyone has eaten all the nice Xmas food. There is nothing left except Turkey.

I had planned to start decorating my boy's bedroom and have a general declutter, but I can't get motivated to do anything. Using the excuse that it is still Christmas really.

frankie001 · 28/12/2018 12:43

I’m about to go to Brent Cross. My friend had decided it would be a great idea...

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 28/12/2018 12:47

I have spent the morning sorting out the Ikea bags of doom in the spare room. Now I'm having a sit down before tackling one of my messy cupboards. It's my new years resolution to get rid of all the clutter so I'm getting a head start. It's a bit sad but I'm quite enjoying myself Grin

YahBasic · 28/12/2018 12:50

We’re driving back after quite an intense Christmas. Brother and sister both blew up with years of resentment and issues, leaving quite a fraught atmosphere.

Sad to be leaving my parents, especially my dad who isn’t in great health and is my ultimate ally, but I think it will do me and DH good to have a couple of days just for us.

butterfly56 · 28/12/2018 13:22

Trying to pick myself up after making the big mistake of spending Christmas Day and Boxing Day with verbally abusive adult DC.
I feel as though I have spent 2days living in an alternate reality!!

PeroniZuchini · 28/12/2018 13:25

I get sad after Christmas. I think deep down I’m still a child! So I’ve kept myself busy today by cleaning the house and washing bedding. I’m going to take the dogs out, see my parents and then settle home with a log fire and some Baileys later to take the sting out of the post-Crimbo comedown.

JudgeRulesNutterButter · 28/12/2018 13:31

I used to love this period as a child. Chillout time to play with new presents/read new books/eat up lots of leftover treats.

DH and my DC are not good at relaxing, they all like to be busy. I blame them for ruining it Xmas Grin

Been to buy some HUGE rockets for NYE.

I’m sure all the animals living near you will be delighted.

Returned from a lovely family visit today to our neighbour (across the cul de sac) apologising for his son's car running into our house. Wall looked a bit bashed on the outside on the inside total mess . Radiator off the wall so central heating not working till that's fixed.

DDs 16 and 19 slept through it!! Was looking forward to a reading and chocolate eating afternoon now I am worried about heating system potentially being out till building trades return to work.

Lad showed me pic of tiny scratch to his car. They are so apologetic and will put everything right and accidents happen but allow me a sorrow for myself Sad

MiddlingMum · 28/12/2018 16:11

No, not at all. Christmas for me is 24th - 26th, and then I'm back to normal as far as possible. I fasted on 27th and had a long run yesterday so feeling fit and healthy. I have really moved on from Christmas now, and have lots of planning to do for exciting things happening next year in both my work and family life.

fuzzyface · 28/12/2018 17:18

I love these days, favourite days of the year. Stay up late watching movies eating nice food with wine then lie ins and lazy mornings. Kids chill out and enjoy their new stuff. Play games etc. I actually switch off and read too.

TwiceMagic · 28/12/2018 17:28

I’ve been feeling rubbish all day. I’ve got a really horrible cold and couldn’t be bothered with housework. I did it anyway though because being a grown up is crap.

It didn’t help that my BF was being indecisive about what he was going to do (over the last 2 days). I would generally have just ignored his indecision and made my own plans but I feel rubbish and couldn’t be bothered. So I’ve not really done anything fun.

Kemer2018 · 28/12/2018 17:33

I'm feeling so lucky to be off until 7 Jan.
I am being sssooooo lazy and I don't feel bad.
When i have to get up early, cycle to work and back plus my stressful job, along with waking in the night through stress, squits before work, then I'll feel bad every day.

SheStoodInTheStorm · 28/12/2018 18:00

Yep I'm struggling!

Child who doesn't know how to lie in and is extremely energetic. I want to hibernate. Feel so exhausted after getting over being ill. But there's something more, really feel in an awful funk.

Mof3K · 28/12/2018 18:03

I've been to work so honestly you should all grateful you're off. I would have loved to stay home.

CottonSock · 28/12/2018 18:06

Me too. But lovely dh is unpacking so I put on a bit of nice music and poured a g&t. Tesco arriving tm to restock and the in-laws so it all starts over.

weegiemum · 28/12/2018 18:21

Quiet day here. Dd1 (18) has gone back to her flat as she's working the next few days - on holiday from Uni. Ds has gone off to a friends house overnight - supposedly studying for his mock exams in 2 weeks but in reality he's taken the new Nintendo Switch with him so will be playing endless mariokart!
Dd2 has her boyfriend here, and we've just ordered an Indian takeaway.
Dh is on his way home from work, and is bringing wine, hurrah!!
I have sat on my arse and done very little today except eat. Even the dog is asleep!
