Argh 3 day old red wine stain just discovered!! HELP

Party Xmas eve and only just moving all the furniture back to discover a large red wine stain on our new wool carpet

I've dribbled cold water on to soak it and was planning on dabbing out with tea towels / kitchen towels then shampooing with vanish carpet cleaner - does that sound like a good plan or is there something else I should be doing??

Don't they say salt or white wine on a red wine stain?

Sainsbury's carpet shampoo is good stuff.

Vanish carpet stain remover will do it.

Hmmm further investigation (a good sniff) has determined its coffee - got a lot better after 2 soak and dabs so will be vanish shampooing shortly
