I'm breastfeeding atm and lovely DH bought me amazon echo so I can do things without having to move with baby attached to boob.

Can anyone tell me some cool stuff I can use it for that I may not have thought of?

What happens when you ask it to open the Magic Door? I need to know this! Xmas Grin

It can control your heating. You can buy sockets for it and it can control you Christmas lights, you basically wouldn’t need timers ever again as you can set up program on it. The bulbs that go with it have a 2 year guarantee and are only 7w despite being very bright, they can be changed to
Multicolour and all different shades as well as low/high light so it saves money on your electic bill!

It's an adventure game. It's quite fun!

OldDog I know but it's a start! I can lie in bed, shout at Alexa to put the kettle on and get 5 more minutes in a warm bed. (If I've set it right!)

"Goodnight Alexa"

"Goodnight sweet dreams" she replied.

eeekkk....

What to do with it you say...safest thing is the bin...outside.

Olddog it worked! Mind you, my dh had just gone back to sleep after my alarm had woken him up, so me shouting at Alexa scared the crap out of him.
It's the little things!

Lol NoIs! I’m afraid mine is boxed back up waiting to be gifted back to the giver with a warning to curb his controlling tendencies! If I’m being a diva about it, for the price he could have got me some Butler and Wilson earrings he knows I was looking at. Far more useful to me Grin

You can set Alexa to wake you with a radio station playing/playlist etc.

I think you can set up Alexa to turn on the plug automatically in ‘routines’ - so you wouldn’t even need to shout at Alexa to turn the kettle plug on!

We are loving ours so much already that we are about to order a dot on the sale. And are discussing whether it's worth ordering two - one for our room and one for DS. I think we'll hold off on DS for a bit, but I already am desperate for the bedroom one and am also planning to get a smart plug for the lamp that's on the other side of our bedroom - we leave it on as it creates a lovely warm glow b ut always annoys me when I have to get out of bed to turn it off when I'm ready to sleep .

Mostly we've just been dazzled by the speaker. We've had dozens of various blue tooth speakers over the years and none have ever been particularly right - either too big physically or dodgy sound or dodgy connections. And the kids are loving being able to choose their own music easily (hence why we've considered getting one for DS' room).

3out I believe that you can set it in routines, but as I don't have a regular time to get up that's no good. More fun to yell at Alexa and scare the crap out of dh!

Sounds good Grin
