Just wondered how long they stay crisp for. I need them for 6 tonight so is it too early to bake them now?

No I wouldn’t do it now, they’ll go all hard. Best freshly baked.

I find they go chewy quite quickly. I would pop them in when guests arrive as only take 10 mins

Put them in when they arrived. Lovely smell of baking bread to make them feel welcome.

Why would you bake them early?!!

bloated1977 · 26/12/2018 16:21

angry because I don't want to be cooking when people arrive and also don't want them to be warm still.

The best part about those rolls is when they’re still warm, otherwise they’re a bit cack!

Stephisaur · 26/12/2018 16:28

They’ll be absolutely fine if you bake them now.

Never had one taste “chewy” and I’ve been known to bake them the day before I need them.

I think they only taste ok when freshly baked and warm, otherwise they are chewy and taste odd.
