Anyone else had a gutful of their kids yet??

I'm tired..Christmas has as always been crazy busy, and wheras yesterday I was enjoying my kids exuberance at it being XD, today their constant sqwabbling, noise, shrieking and moaning is REALLY getting to me.

We live in a maisonette and what I wouldn't give for a different floor that I could escape to.

What I wouldn't give for a couple of childfree hours.. i'd take myself off to bed for a nap.

Going up to the inlaws tomorrow for 3 days and even though the 3.5 hour long car journey is giving me palpatations, I am really looking forward to offloading children to them for a bit.

Anyone else??

Ds was utterly overwhelmed yesterday, kept Dh and I up half the night and we are now both shattered and foul tempered. I feel you!

crosser62 · 26/12/2018 14:52

Yes.
Yesterday I posted about getting in my car and driving off.

I’ve taken myself off to bed for a couple of hours before I ESCAPE to the peace and quiet of work.
Bliss

I'm finding the toddler hard work, the older 2 don't want anything to do with her because they're playing xbox. I'm enjoying having them home, but last night I was exhausted.

I've got one upstairs bedroom with ensuite, and it has been known for me to sneak off up there for a nap when it all gets too noisy downstairs. A stairgate at the bottom of the stairs speaks for itself.

NoWordForFluffy · 26/12/2018 15:04

Ours were hideous in the run up, but have been way better since yesterday, thank god.

I would've happily walked out and never looked back at a couple of points over the preceding few weeks!

DavetheCat2001 · 26/12/2018 15:17

Glad it's not only me and solidarity to my fellow-sufferers!

I've got them both painting stuff they got for Xmas n the kitchen table at the moment, but the 5 year old is already starting to try and wind the 7 year old up, so it will descend into chaos again shortly. Hmm

OH hiding in the living room 'setting up' Just Dance on the Switch for them..once that is underway I'm opening a bottle of red and hiding away for a bit!

First year of husband sober and he is struggling with his feelings, tired and irritable. Kids are well behaved but we are all getting on each other's nerves. I've had a bath and got into bed to have a nap. It's the only way to try and stay sane I think.

We spent Christmas Eve & yesterday at my DM's with her, stepdad & my DB, today we've been with PILs, BIL, SIL & DN. love that there have been so many people around to play with DD & she's loved having loads of different people. This thread is why we've always resisted having Christmas Day at home just us three!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 26/12/2018 15:28

DD (3) is presently tantrumming like fuck downstairs as she’s tired and won’t sleep in the car.

I’ve had enough and DH is now stepping up. Meanwhile DS (14mo) remains ignored as DD vacuums up all the attention.

I feel like a horrid shite now.

I just took mine out for a long walk in a local park. They are now calm and playing Xbox for a bit.

I can calmly get on with stuff before in laws arrive in a bit.

They drive me mad if they haven’t been out.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 26/12/2018 15:33

It’s at this time of year I just beg for the time to fly to get normality and routine back, I really do.

DavetheCat2001 · 26/12/2018 15:36

Feeling your pain Paul

We took ours out to the park earlier to play with their new frisbees and try and run off some energy..everything got covered in mud, I just wanted to go home but at least they've had a bit of a runabout.

I am planning on doing Dry January again next year as this time of year just turns me into a massive boozer Hmm

I think what really gets me is I truly love DD (and DS) so much, but right now the toddler dial is turned up HIGH and I’m 17w pregnant and just pooped this ratty and sour faced.

Much like an actual dynamo the more we try and “burn DD out” it’s like she gets even more energy, but it’s hyper energy. Ach, PARENTING. Just guilt really, innit.
