Anyone else pleased with the Christmas turn out?

The husband is currently cleaning the house top to bottom, doing the dishes and throwing our boxes and wrapping paper.
Also preparing me a bath, while I watch a Christmas movie with our 1 year old. I did an impressive Capon and trimmings.

How did everyone else do? It’s so nice being able to sit back after a busy morning.

I made a lovely dinner and me an dd are just waking up from a 2 hour nap and dh has cleaned all downstairs and prepared it for our little party later

icebearforpresident · 25/12/2018 16:57

My living room is carnage but the meal was good, the morning visitors only stayed half an hour each and the kids are happy. I did the meal so DH has just started the dishes and will make his famous stick toffee pudding once they are done. Just had a nap and about to crack open a bottle of wine.

Good day all round 😀

We've had a lovely day. Took the DC to Church this morning, they were surprisingly willing Wink

We've all had lovely gifts from friends and family. Nice dinner, now watching TV with a glass of wine. Wonderful day.

We have had a lovely day. The DCs didn't wake up until 8am (9 and 6).

We had a really lovely dinner and are now relaxing. We are going to see PIL for an hour or so in a bit. Kids have been playing with their presents and it has been stress free.

GMtoBe · 25/12/2018 17:07

We've had a great day. Last Christmas my pnd was horrendous and I didn't even want to be here. This year we're having a lovely day in our house, I made a good dinner and we've had some great presents. DD has been spoilt rotten and I'm about to have a gin and watch a film. Feeling very festive and content.

Cheers everyone!

AllYeFaithful · 25/12/2018 17:10

It’s been a wonderful day.
DC loved their presents.
Had a lovely walk along the beach and champagne on the beach (popcorn fir the kids). Weather was so unseasonably mild and sunny!
Lunch was delicious and for once I managed it without feeling stressed, due to lots of prep and a few shortcuts.
Currently all vegging out in front of the telly (port on the go fir the adults). Contemplating pud soon.

It’s been so enjoyable and I feel very very grateful x

glenthebattleostrich · 25/12/2018 17:10

Lovely day here too.

DD gitbup at 6:30. Opened stocking, had a lovely breakfast then presents (DH chose some lovely things)

A nice dog walk, a lazy picky lunch and a bottle of wine playing monopoly.

Currently watching zog and will continue to snack off and on. Have more wine / gin. DD is really enjoying building one of several Lego sets. All is good in the ostrich household.

StillMedusa · 25/12/2018 17:15

Lovely day here. OK the living room is a bombsite, but our meal was fab (and I didn't forget anything this year!), DH washed up, the (adult) kids are playing monopoly and DS1 proposed to his girlfriend (who lives with us) .

Pork is cooking for evening snacks if we ever are hungry again!

I was just thinking how nice it is, sat with my four favourite people in the world, well fed, happy, safe and warm. We've had a simple Christmas, just us, and (while I'll be honest and say I haven't felt entirely Christmassy) it's been a really lovely day.

AskingForAnEnemy · 25/12/2018 17:18

Lovely day here too. Husband done a beautiful Christmas dinner and cleaned the kitchen after whilst I helped the kids build some of their toys

Now both sat with a gin and tonic waiting for Home Alone 2 whilst the kids tidy their rooms

LaPufalina · 25/12/2018 17:26

Yes, feeling very happy with the world... dinner (late lunch) was a cracker, made without major incident at mine by me and my lovely mum, nine veg and a rib of beef. Toddler has been very well behaved but is a bit coldy so slept for three hours, as did the baby (she's just a sleeper though!) so we had lunch prep and eating in peace.
Husband spoiled me with lovely gifts and baby is asleep on me now whilst my family watches tv downstairs and DH clears up the kitchen.
Feels a bit romcom, but I lost one of my new earrings whilst out for a walk earlier with the kids and my mum and Nan. Went out to retrace my steps and mentioned lost earring to a (very handsome Grin) dog walker, who tracked me down with it further up the park! Lucky me!

BadlyAgedMemes · 25/12/2018 17:39

I'm pleased, but it was always going to be very laid back, with just me and DH here...

We've not had the dinner yet, as we had a big breakfast and nibbled on chocolates in the morning.

ChristmasWrappingTheWaitresses · 25/12/2018 17:45

We've had a lovely family day here. We spend the morning with the in-laws and all that side of the family and then have Christmas dinner at my mum's with all our side of family.

We are home now rather tipsy. I'm feeling incredibly fat, the boys are having a NERF gun battle and all is good in my world.

Pieceofpurplesky · 25/12/2018 18:09

I have realised how far I have come. 4th Christmas since exh left and left a mess.
By 5 everyone was fed, full and happy. House was clean and I was lying in the sofa. Easy food for 4 courtesy of m and s
DS spent an hour with exh this morning and won't see him for ages now (as exh can only fit DS in occasionally)
5 years ago I would be preparing food for 11 from scratch as exh didn't want ready done food (and didn't cook). We ate at 7 to fit in with his family (but not mine). He wouldn't lift a finger all day. I would sit down to main course after everyone had eaten starters and drank the best wine. I would then clear up with my mum and exh and the 5 members of his family were tired.
Today I realised I love my life.

Jellycatspyjamas · 25/12/2018 18:19

We’ve had a lovely day. Early start with my two up at 6.30, presents, breakfast/brunch and bath while the kids played with their toys. Dinner was a very relaxed affair with starter and main, DH and I will have cheese with the remaining wine after the kids go to bed (they’ll be in bed by 7.00).

This is only our second Christmas with the kids, who we adopted last year. Last year Christmas was a nightmare from start to finish, if you’d have told me this year would be so chilled I’d never have believed you.

Happy, happy days 😀

GrumpyOldMare · 25/12/2018 18:50

Lovely day.

Son's dad(we mutually decided to split and just be friends when son was tiny and it's worked well) came round for lunch with presents for him and a bottle of Baileys for me which was very unexpected but very nice.

Son and me took a walk this afternoon with our new cameras, came home and we now have nibbles on the side if we get peckish later. There is a chocolate cake in the fridge for supper which we're looking forward to.

Currently sat with the last of the wine from last night, enjoying some me time.

Kimtag · 25/12/2018 18:52

Lovely day here also.

Food turned out great.

Everyone pleased with gifts.

Charades was fun.

Greatest showman with fantastic music on now.

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 25/12/2018 18:54

Lovely day here too. I made a conscious decision not to stress about anything this year and it’s been a fab plan. I just went with the flow and enjoyed everything...this included preparing Xmas dinner for my parents, hubby and DS.

Am now sat in the sofa and just enjoying TV and nibbles with DH. it’s been a fab day,
