Gas canister...

I've left home after cooking, cooker is off but I forgot to turn off the gas at the cannister, is it very dangerous to do or do I need to go back to turn it off??
I know, stupid stupid mistake

Should be fine. No demand at outlet so regulator will keep it in the canister. As the canister is probably outside , if it were to leak the gas would dissipate in the air.
