FFS - putty on sofa 🤬

Any tips?

I’ve got all of the actual putty off, now left with a grease mark. I’ve done hot water and fairy liquid which has reduced but not removed. Now got salt on the residual mark to see if that will soak it.

I’m remote and no shops open nearby.

Please help!

Was going to suggest salt or bicarb, failing that talc or flour.
Is it play putty or window-frame putty?
The stain is probably from oil.

Liquid handsoap rubbed in and then washed off with cool water

Antibacterial hand gel or hairspray. The alcohol breaks down the grease.

Dr Beckmann grease remover!

Paper kitchen towel and iron over it? (Carefully!) DS2 dropped slime on his new just unwrapped hoodie and I'm praying that it will wash out!

SandunesAndRainclouds · 25/12/2018 18:19

It hasn’t washed out of the cushion cover that also got it.

It’s not even my sofa...

If it is grease that Dr Bachman's will work even though it's been washed.

I ignore instructions apply liberally work into the fabric then back in the washing machine.

Finally got out to a supermarket today and found bicarbonate of soda. I’ve worked it into the stain and hoovered it off, and miraculously it has worked. Phew.

That stuff has always been banned in my house and on the 2 occasions different DC smuggled it in it ruined duvet covers AngryAngryAngryAngry

Should be made illegal!

SandunesAndRainclouds · 26/12/2018 20:37

The remainder has been binned and I’ll never have it in the house (mine or anyone else’s!) again.

Mine were told on threat of death it was banned and still they infested by home with it 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
