Has anyone had contraceptive implant/jab that gets acne and it didn't make it worse?

I'm looking at more long term contraception rather than the pill as remembering to take it is a faff. I am considering the implant or jab but looking online both say acne as a side effect especially if you already get spots.

With a decent routine, my skin isn't too bad. I really really don't want to make it worse as it gets me down.

I also don't want a coil so no suggestions of that please.

Yes, I have pcos & had the implant which is progesterone. It was fine for 6 months then the worst acne ever. It’s out now and I’m scarred.

I wouldn’t recommend it if your acne prone.

I do know two women who developed acne after contraception: 1 with the implant, and 1 with IUD. You'll never know how your body reacts until you trie, I'm afraid.

Ok. Implant is out then as I've already got some scarring on my chin and around my nose.

What about the injection?

The jab didn't affect me acne wise but depending on your situation please be aware that after coming off the depo jab it can take a long time to begin ovulating normally again. I was not warned about this by the nurses I saw - obviously if you're done having DC then it doesn't matter.

Not ache, but with the injection my skin has been greasy as hell.

I've been on the injection for 7 years. I have great skin, and never get periods. No weight gain either (size 8-10). I love it!

Had the implant, was horrendous made my moods ridiculous, raging most of the time, had it removed as never felt so awful

I had terrible acne as a teenager and it continued in to my early twenties. I went on a 12 month course of antibiotics which did wonders for my skin and that was nearly 10 years ago and my skin has been so much better since. Currently on my 3 implant and my skin has re mained relatively clear. I get the old spot but it's nothing really.

I'm done having kids so not worried about that. I'd get sterilized if it didn't start the menopause. Then I wouldn't need to worry.
