Yesterday I went to Waitrose to pick some bakery goodies for today's breakfast. None were left. Just beneath the bakery display a cupboard was left open and a doughnut box had fallen of. I picked it up, the dates were 22-25 December, so I asked a staff if I could have it? He was rude, said I shouldn't have opened it ( I didn't) and no it's not for sale. I didn't say anything was too embarrassed as there were people around me and left.
I'm genuinely curious, can staff refuse to sell an item with in dates? Clearly they can't keep it further?
