I'm a nurse. I work a lot usually over the Christmas period, but this year I was so excited because I have the whole week off with DH and both DDs (4&2). Was due to have lunch out today with my family which cost a small fortune and lunch with DH's whole family tomorrow.

Except this morning I've been hit with the tummy bug that DD2 had last week. I won't be going anyway and will have miss out on it all.

No real point to this point just I'm so gutted I'm actually crying.

That’s really miserable. Flowers

Stephisaur · 25/12/2018 09:14

Oh I’m so sorry OP :(

I’ve had a tummy bug over Christmas and it’s the worst Flowers

PositivelyPERF · 25/12/2018 09:15

Oh I am sorry OP. I worked every Christmas for years and I know how time off on special holidays is so important. I hope you feel better soon. I hope your husband is going to do the heavy load today?

madroid · 25/12/2018 09:15

That's horrible. Hope you can do something nice when you feel better Xmas Wink

jessstan2 · 25/12/2018 09:16

You poor girl, I'm so sorry.

Hopefully it will be over in a couple of days and you can do something after Christmas.

Pamper yourself. Hopefully your partner and children can still see parents and you'll be there at home in the background. These things happen and are unfortunate.

No wine for you but Flowers.

(No consolation to you but I don't feel all that good either, however I don't have small children. Bless you x)

Can you ring in sick and claim your annual leave back to use another time? Not going to get Xmas back, but you can do fun things later.

AnnaMariaDreams · 25/12/2018 09:17

That’s rubbish Flowers

Fuckyousanta · 25/12/2018 09:18

Yes if you are sick send a text and tell them so you don’t waste your annual leave!

Hope you feel better soon OP

KitKat1985 · 25/12/2018 09:20

Maybe toomuchfaster.

Between the 2 DDs they have bought 3 different tummy bugs back from nursery, and this is the second time this year they've kindly shared it with me during my annual leave time. :/

Oh that's a bummer OP! Hope you get better soon.

((hugs))

RedTartanLass · 25/12/2018 09:34

Awww I'm sorry @KitKat1985.

My DM was a nurse who rarely had Christmas off but so incredible proud of her as a child. We had Christmas before/after she finished her shift.

In fact even when she did have Christmas off we would occasionally go in and see her work colleagues or if there was a patient she was especially fond off and knew would not be getting visitors.

You're doing an amazing job, I'm sorry you're ill but your kids will grow up so amazingly proud of you. Except for the fact that a limb literally had to be hanging off my body before getting a day off school, I was immensely proud of my DM's job.

FlipFlapBat · 25/12/2018 09:39

Three of us have been taking it in turn to rush to the bathroom and throw up. The two year old who won’t even eat a Christmas dinner because it’s not pasta is fine. We were meant to be going to families for lunch but obviously can’t now. Gutting! Save the celebration for another day!

KitKat1985 · 25/12/2018 09:41

Thank you for the kind words RedTartan.

Hope you all feel better soon too FlipFlapBat. xx

That’s jut awful timing! Moan away.

At least though you have absolute cart Blanche to stay in bed in jammies and have little bits of what you fancy as and when. Plenty of films to distract you.

Feel better soon!

KitKat1985 · 25/12/2018 10:05

Trying to look at the positives - been on Weight Watchers this year and finally got to my goal weight at the start of December. Was a bit worried I might put loads back on again over Christmas but seems fairly unlikely now..... Xmas Envy (Not envy)
