Basically, this evening I have noticed that one of my upper ribs (if that's what they're called??) protrude more on my right side. I am slim but the whole are in red protrudes more on the right side and the are in black sort of feels like more of a sort of bump sticking out even more.

I've had health anxiety before so I'm always aware with these sorts of things that it could be my HA creeping back in so I just wondered if this would be considered normal. I have a tendency to get worried and it's keeping me awake just now so I'm hoping some of you may be knowledgable enough on this to give some advice?

Thanks so much Smile

You haven't mentioned any pain?

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 24/12/2018 23:58

Does it hurt? I'm not a doctor but it sounds quite innocuous unless there's a drip feed of recent trauma to the area and accompanying excruciating pain!!

LovelyUnicorn · 24/12/2018 23:59

Sorry, every time I've typed area, my phone has changed it to are!

I don't think it could be anything urgent, try not to worry until there is something you can do about it - like see a doctor about your health anxiety. Good luck!

ikltownofboothlehem · 25/12/2018 00:00

Have you broken a rib before or had a blow to that area? If you have it could be healed calcification.

IShitChristmasGlitter · 25/12/2018 00:00

our bodies are not symmetrical if you are worried go to the GP for your HA.

Missingstreetlife · 25/12/2018 00:00

I think you will live thru Xmas. Make gp appt next week if still anxious

LovelyUnicorn · 25/12/2018 00:00

No massive drip feed. Trying to think back now you ask though, I did have some chest pain a couple of months ago but it wasn't severe, it came and went and very much felt muscular. Stopped after a couple of weeks.

The body isn’t necessarily symmetrical. If there is no trauma or pain and it is not new, I would not give it another thought

Singlenotsingle · 25/12/2018 00:03

Bodies aren't always symmetrical OP. Some people have one boob bigger than the other. I've got one foot a bit bigger than the other. Unless it hurts, don't worry about it.

MrsRyanGosling15 · 25/12/2018 00:11

Stop looking for medical advice on an internet forum.

Ginkythefangedhellpigofdoom · 25/12/2018 00:58

I have exactly the same thing.your circle is higher though, mine is just below my bra on one of the bottom two ribs.

I am 99% sure mine was caused by a broken rib though as I was in a violent relationship but I was never allowed to go to the hospital to check so Iv never had it officially looked at by a doctor.

It's been there at least 16 years though (as I've not been in that relationship for that long) and I'm fine.

TheFuckfaceWhisperer · 25/12/2018 01:11

I have lots of weird things... one boob bigger than the other, one leg slightly fatter than the other, flat feet and a protruding shoulder blade (winged scapula). None of these are new or bother me much. If you have no pain I really wouldn't worry, bodies can be weird. Have a nice Christmas OP and stop worrying Smile
