DD2 and coil problems

Apologies for the unfestive thread, and for TMI!
DD2 is 22, and has the mirena coil, which was put in in April and was very painful to have in, but has been good ever since- it's for contraception.
She's just come to me and said she's worried as she checked the threads and it's suddenly shifted to being really low, with the strings about an inch into her vagina. She isn't registered at a GP here, as ours closed a few weeks before she went to university and registered there (2 1/2 hours drive), but doesn't go back to uni until mid January. Also, we are very rural, so she's worried about pain and lack of experience putting them in/checking them, especially after her first experience of it. I've never had the coil myself, and am long past it, now! She's got abdomen pain, but is also coming to the end of her period- could that be why the strings have moved?
My girls are usually quite open with me about issues like this, and DD2 is comfortable with me asking online for your advice!

My merina literally fell out when wiping after a wee , all be it after a night of pash. It happens, apparently, though the chemist (map) and the gynea seemed to disbelieve me.

This could be terrible advice so don't follow it but id tug gently and see if it is dislodged because if it's that far down, its out of place and it's better to know what you're dealing with. And map if sex has been had

Mine did this! My strings are v short deliberately and I checked them at a different time of the month and they felt really long. Scan showed all fine
Get her to check again in a couple of days, it's probably because of the time of the month

Mine used to go up and down until it eventually got stuck in my cervix - but I knew about that , it wasn’t just pain - I blacked out with it (cervical shock) . I also had an electric shock type pain when I went to the loo from day one ... was absolutely awful . Friends who have one say they have had mild cramping and spotting and that strings do change length throughout month so suspect it’s somewhat normal if there’s no severe pain or bleeding .
