I’m so excited! Just got £64 of food for £4.81 in Sainsbury’s. DH got £42 for £1.01! Best buys included £26 worth of salmon fillets for 60p and 2 steaks for 20p. DH also got 2 packets of bacon for 5p each!

Bloody hell thats great!
I haven’t left the house today it’s been great Smile

JustMarriedAndLovingIt · 24/12/2018 19:30

Tell me about it. There was a lot of hanging about, maybe half an hour, but well worth it!

Every year I want to grab some supermarket bargains, but I can never be bothered to leave the house!

Great bargains , OP.

Our coop had scotch pancakes down to 54p from 59p :)

TheDistantSky · 24/12/2018 19:33

Waitrose 5pm. 4 packs of minced beef £0.35, melon £0.15, meatballs £0.45, full rack of pork ribs £0.32.

Bluetitbirdy · 24/12/2018 19:35

I was in sainsburys earlier. Why didn't I go in the last half hour of closing?

What a bargain for Christmas. I must do this next year. It will save me a fortune.

Livedandlearned · 24/12/2018 19:35

Our Lidl is giving away turkeys and turkey crowns. And poinsettias.

Babyroobs · 24/12/2018 19:37

PickAChew- Coop are terrible for bargains, especially considering they charge twice the price that everyone else does in the first place. they reduce things by a few pence at a time , it must cost more in labour for the staff to keep marking things down a few pence at a time. I got a Lidl free range deluxe turkey crown covered in bacon etc for a third off but otherwise my bargains have been rubbish this year.

YoungLennyGodber · 24/12/2018 19:39

My jaw is on the floor - bloody well done!! Happy Christmas, hope it all tastes delicious!

Fantasisa · 24/12/2018 19:41

Well done, I’m jealous!

PickAChew · 24/12/2018 19:50

Their reductions are baffling, baby. I went for a walk one evening, stopped in, and came back with a pound of absolutely delicious sirloin steak and a pound if lamb leg steaks for under a fiver. Dh often comes back with 25p loaves of bread or a ready meal for 80p, sated the next day, so perfect for lunch at work. It's not that expensive to start with, since there's a sainsburys local very nearby. It's always busy.

And dh has just gone out yellow sticker hunting!

JuniperBeer · 24/12/2018 19:52

Pickachew- what shops near you are still open? All ours shut at 4!

PickAChew · 24/12/2018 19:52

Coop and sainsburys local are open until 9.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 24/12/2018 19:59

Lol at PickAChew

Wow Livedandlearned free stuff!

I got most of our Christmas dinner from Aldi at half price this morning! Including a beautiful (and massive) easycarve lamb joint rrp which should've been £28.

Then I went to Tesco and filled a small trolley with salmon, sea bass and king prawns all at 75% off. Including two £12 sides of salmon for £2 each. And 2 bunches of pristine lilies for 30p each Grin

I don't think I could hold my nerve for the mega bargains near closing time on Christmas Eve Grin
I'd completely had enough by late morning. In previous years it's been really quiet. It was getting uncomfortably busy by noon in the big Tesco with cars queuing to get in and trollies blocking the aisles. It felt like a pressure cooker Grin

Some superb bargains on here, well done everyone!

Sparklingbrook · 24/12/2018 20:08

I think it's the luck of the draw. If you go into a supermarket specifically looking for a bargain you can be unlucky but occasionally if you are in at the righ time you might get a gem without meaning to.

I sometimes think there's a reason it's in the reduced bay though, bit like clothes in a sale. Why are they there?

JustMarriedAndLovingIt · 24/12/2018 20:10

Well done everyone, it’s so exciting!

£2 for a £35 turkey crown in Lidl. Whole turkeys and ducks were the same price. Madness!

Different with food. Food has an expiry/sell by date. Plus, as its Christmas tomorrow, shops won't be open so need to sell stuff going off before then.

Sparklingbrook · 24/12/2018 20:12

Mmmm not sure. You can find some pretty weird stuff in the reduced bay TBF.

As my DH says it's only a bargain if you need it.

SassitudeandSparkle · 24/12/2018 20:15

I have bought DH a short coat in Tesco today, half price in a clothing sale (so might have been reduced previously). Someone was putting it back on the rail and I grabbed it (reduced to £25).

Whatififall · 24/12/2018 20:18

Wow!
I was impressed with a 10p loaf of bread from Asda earlier! I didn’t need anything else, next year I might hang on to do a big shop

Ruddle91 · 24/12/2018 20:21

Only a loaf of bread for 5p. I'll make bread pudding with it

JustMarriedAndLovingIt · 24/12/2018 20:22

@TofuPanda Shock Very impressed! Well done!

OP posts:
TofuPanda · 24/12/2018 20:31

If I had a lot of people to feed tomorrow I would not have risked it! I just happened to be there at the right time! Popped into Waitrose too but no bargains to be had there at all.

AtAmber · 24/12/2018 20:31

Dh says you are all lying to deliberately upset people. And he will only believe you if you put up pictures of the whoopsie labels.
