Me - I was shy at school and rarely talked.

I left my husband 10 years ago because he was abusive. I have recently been diagnosed with anxiety and have felt suicidal this year. I also drink too much. However, I hold down a very senior job in a prestigious organisation and people think I am very competent and professional.

I have a new partner who is 22 years older than me, but you wouldn’t believe it. He is a former SAS trooper and he was one of the soldiers who stormed the Iranian Embassy in 1980.

He attended Prince Charles and Diana’s wedding as a “guest” but was undercover.

And I daydream sometimes about Gerard Butler. In a kilt
Hell, yes that a marker of sanity in my mind

Echobelly · 25/12/2018 20:10

That I sometimes go to fetish clubs and parties. Close friends know this, obviously some are from the scene, but workmates and school parents etc would probably be pretty surprised.

nickeltownofbethlehem · 25/12/2018 20:18

That the main reaaon my shop failed is because I'm absolutely useless at putting anyrhing into action.
that I have all these brilliant ideas and know exactly what I'm supposed to do, but I get the Fear when it comes to it and can't do it. That I should be working towards making money to open a new one but I have absolutely no way of pushing myself into it happening. I can't phone people, I can't write to people, I can't "sell myself" because I'm worried people will think I'm being pushy or too forceful or demanding.

WhyDidIEatThat · 25/12/2018 20:20

Married to a celebrity, we met in a cult. People are surprised I’m married at all (estranged for 20+ years, can’t quite organise a divorce).

AlmostGrockle · 25/12/2018 20:31

That I was raised by a mentally ill mother and an abusive alcoholic father.
That one of the schools I went to was a cult.
That I'm NC with most of my family.

Sleephelpplease · 25/12/2018 20:41

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 25/12/2018 22:20

That I am a very anxious person

That I lived on a very rough council estate when I was a child

That is have been in care

I come across as soft and a bit of a push over but I am not at all

HomeEdRocks18 · 25/12/2018 22:31

I make a really convincing monkey sound, so much that the monkeys at the zoo stop and stare at me

lljkk · 25/12/2018 22:37

I get a lot of exercise. Not long back, I won my age-sex group in a mini-triathlon. Lots of people assume I'm very good at sport since I do so much.

I'm actually lousy at sport. In school I was the slowest & weakest & least coordinated in all sport. I couldn't even make the average percentiles for no. of press-ups in 2 minutes, etc.

skinthecat · 25/12/2018 22:48

I'm.a lot more disabled than people think. Most, if not all people think I have a bad back. It's a bit more than that and I have a serious spinal condition. I'm going to end up a wheelchair user within 10 years.

I have the sort of memory that can remember the most random of crap. Like the registration plate of a car we had in the family 25 years ago.

I frequently self harm and have done so for about 15 years now. It's my coping mechanism and as my username suggests there's more than one way to skin a cat.

BonBonVoyage · 25/12/2018 22:49

cheeses Flowers

Livpool · 25/12/2018 22:55

From the ages of 8 to 16 I was bullied horribly. I hated secondary school especially and contemplated suicide a few times. I had red hair and glasses and loved learning but otherwise no idea why they picked on me.

However, I am now (assumed to be) confident and (genuinely) happy with my life.

If I could tell my 14 year old self anything, it would be that things do get better

Moonflower12 · 25/12/2018 23:03

I have been married 3 times. One was annulled so doesn't count?Shock

I can cut up a car with the 'jaws of life'

I have 2 tattoos

Didyeeaye · 25/12/2018 23:04

I slept with a teddy till I was 22 lol

Crackedvase · 25/12/2018 23:05

I have had a secret binge/starve cycle for 20 years. No one knows, not my husband, parents or therapist.
It is accompanied by a near round the clock diatribe of voices in my head negotiating food/drink consumption.
I come across as laid back.....

TimeWoundsAllHeals · 25/12/2018 23:06

I’m pretty WYSIWYG tbh.

ProjectGainsborough · 25/12/2018 23:21

cheese Flowers Hope you can get some help.

Ladytinselmuff · 25/12/2018 23:29

That I'm quite anti-social & hate the thought of going out or socialising or talking to people on the phone and would happily not do social occasions. When I'm out and about I talk to everyone and am really friendly, and people think I'm so good at "working the room". All a big fat act to get me safely home again.

FrankieChips · 25/12/2018 23:29

I hate socialising and will do anything to avoid it. I would be happiest living totally off the grid with no internet, in a small bungalow type house.

thisisjustdaft · 25/12/2018 23:31

I have an unlikely family connection to someone globally famous.

Oh, and I like trains.
