Just DS and I at Christmas each year.
I like to watch Scrooge starring Alistair Sim. Christmas isn't the same without it.

Go on the a pre-Christmas walk with lots of mates and all the kids. There were about 30 of us yesterday.

Not have a starter. I'd much rather have more dessert.

Alcohol. Grin

Get outdoors as much as possible. Walking, running, cycling, gardening, tending to the animals.

Get outside into the sunshine at every possible opportunity. I get cabin fever if I sit in the house all week.

CurbsideProphet · 24/12/2018 17:42

I sit down to watch Call The Midwife on Boxing Day Smile

Christmas is a funny old time of year. We don't have children yet, so Christmas day is spent doing the rounds. I'm off work for the rest of the week, so I'll be making sure to get some fresh air and have a bit of a sort and potter at home.

Go out somewhere for a scenic walk. It always seems to re energise me and stops me getting grumpy.
Also, meet up with friends.

Find places I can be by myself for a bit. I'm not particularly introverted but find family all being there very tiring after a couple of hours. We're at the in laws and have already had enough, only been here 4 hours!

Booze - not loads, just a couple of things I really like. DH not much of a drinker and neither are the in laws so am gasping for a wine or something but don't want to be the first one to open it (again).

Cheese - love a selection of nice cheeses. Crackers, cheese, cured meats/smoked salmon and a drop of port or fizz. Bliss!

Catching up on old episodes of First Dates tonight as DH is working. Even though there doesn't seem to be a Christmas episode this year it's a show that somehow seems Christmassy to me anyway - it's the lovely cosy feeling that I get when the couples hit it off, I think.

I go to a cathedral carol concert with a good friend.

Get out into the countryside at some point.

I'm watching carols from Kings by myself as we speak.

sparklepops123 · 24/12/2018 18:33

I'd double check about first dates Christmas special, I'm sure I've seen advertised

Lottapianos · 24/12/2018 18:39

Food and drink that you love, in moderation

Plenty of exercise

Netflix or films that you enjoy if you find Christmas telly depressing

Whatsnewwithyou · 24/12/2018 18:46

Thanks @sparkelepops123, I've checked and you're right, there is one! Xmas Smile

MalcolmsBrokenWalrusMoneybox · 24/12/2018 18:51

Watching it's a wonderful life.

Having food I like even if no one else will eat it (baklava and smoked salmon in my case).

Getting out of the house.

GIN.

I always buy fresh flowers for myself a few days before.
Do as much food prep as I can on Christmas Eve so I can hide in kitchen for an hour drinking a stiff g&t while occasionally clanging a pan lid & making out it's hectic
