Period - heavy, light, heavy again!

This doesn't happen every period but happens a lot. I started last Wednesday, it got lighter then on Saturday, day 4, then since yesterday evening heavy again and today. I'm 43. Does this happen to others?

Hi, it could be due to peri menopause and hormone fluctuations. I’m 48 now, but my periods have been weird for a few years...sometimes heavy, sometimes light...painful or not painful etc.

Mine is five days long - you could set your watch by it. Heavy days 1-3, very light on day 4, comes back with a vengeance on day 5 and then finished by the morning of day 6.

Mine stops for a day halfway through. I call it the adverts.

I’m 40 and mine has started doing this too. A google told me it was quite common!

Oooh, I've just started having this. Assume it's the peri-menopause as I'm 44.

Mine have always done this.

I've been told it's something to do with ovulation being 'faulty', I have it sometimes but much worse when my diet is poor and I'm not particularly healthy. For a long while I had basically 2 periods one after the other with a clear day in the middle. I have PCOS. I hope it's not peri because I'm only 35 but I definitely think it's hormone related.

I have this, also 43. I have large fibroids and wondered whether it might be something to do with that.

I have this. Really heavy days 1-3, light day 4, day off day 5 then heavy day 6 and 7. If I'm lucky it stretches to day 8.
With a 24 day cycle and at least a week of PMT I have about 10 days a month I'm not mental or bleeding.
