I love that the music, pace, etc., is slightly creepy. Are there any other Christmas songs that are similar?

(Also I've got mn stick on night mode, anyone know how to change it?)

I heard this the other day on Radio 1, Kenny Rogers version. I almos tweeted Reece Shearsmith #adventhorror it was so freaky!

You’re on your own OP 😂

Aww! It's my favourite but it freaks my partner out.

Love it so much! I did it in choir with hand bells as a child and it's my favourite ever since.

Im going to play it to emo/goth DD1 and see what she thinks.

Is it the same version , Im going to search others and check it wasn’t just Kenny 😜

ChristineBaskets · 24/12/2018 15:12

I love it too and agree about it sounding slightly sinister! Like it might segue into the theme from The Omen at any moment Grin

But my favourite carol is In The Bleak Midwinter, because it sounds kind of sad but lovely.

ManicUnicorn · 24/12/2018 15:14

It's very ominous sounding, it's the music from Home Alone when Kevin runs home from the church to wait for the burglars to arrive.

Jbck · 24/12/2018 15:14

Mine is Josh Groban’s version of O Holy Night, It is so not my style but I love it.

ChessieFL · 24/12/2018 15:20

I love O Holy Night. I like Carol of the Bells too.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 24/12/2018 15:40

I think there is a similar shivery, silvery feel to the Coventry Carol.

Piewacket · 24/12/2018 15:43

Oooh! Thank you for that, my favourite carol has been Carol of the Bells ever since I heard it sung on an episode of Quantum Leap.

But I've never heard Kenny Rogers version, just what I now realise are
abbreviated versions on TV shows etc.

I'll need to buy a copy of his version to play at Christmas now! Yes, I love the slightly spooky, otherworldly character of it.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 24/12/2018 15:55

I LOVE Carol of the Bells, agree it sounds quite sinister, I think it's the chanting aspect that makes me think of the Omen, as a PP mentioned. Heard live with a full choir and handbells is just magical.

Love Carol of the Bells!

dudsville · 24/12/2018 16:10

I LOVE Carol of the Bells! Absolutely my favourite.

Athena51 · 24/12/2018 16:29

Carol of the Bells always reminds me of one of my favourite West Wing episodes (Noel). I love it, especially the edge of melancholy that it has. [fmile]

MayhapsIAm · 24/12/2018 16:37

Love all that have been mentioned - this is a favourite of mine (also from home alone (2)

Northernpowerhouse · 24/12/2018 16:37

Have you listened to Pentatonix version of Carol of The Bells - you can get it on you tube...... amazing!

WomanWithAltitude · 24/12/2018 16:40

Coventry Carol is quite bleak. I love it though.

TerfTerfTerf3 · 24/12/2018 17:09

I love all version of it but think this is one of the best! It's got everything - tradition, prog rock and James Bond Grin

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 24/12/2018 17:41

Gaudete has something of a similar feel as well.

dudsville · 25/12/2018 22:24

I will look at/ listen to these when not sitting silently in bed next to sleeping partner!
