Got a Christmas pudding and brandy cream but only DH likes it, not me or the kids. Time is running out, I’ve already been out shopping but I’m going again, inspiration please?

We're having Christmas pudding, sherry trifle, profiteroles, sticky toffee pudding and a cheese board. Everyone likes something different so I offer a choice or everyone can have a bit of everything

whinetime89 · 24/12/2018 12:14

Individual trifles ( come st me sherry) and pavlova

I’m making this - www.bbc.com/food/recipes/chocolate_olive_oil_60450

It’s lactose free for my lactose intolerant son and can be made ahead of time.

BBc good food recipe lemon meringue ice cream cake. So easy just an assembly job and then freeze

soupmaker · 24/12/2018 12:16

Chocolate brownie made by DH topped with vanilla ice cream, with chocolate sauce, chopped nuts, crushed amaretti biscuits and whipped cream. Then cheese!

CigarsofthePharoahs · 24/12/2018 12:18

Eton mess.
This year I've bought mini merignes from M&S but usually I make them by mixing egg white and icing sugar into a royal icing like paste and then microwaving it in small lumps. It's fun to watch!
Then whipped cream and fruit of choice. Lovely.

I do like Christmas pudding, but it's just too heavy after such a big main course. We save ours for boxing day.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 24/12/2018 12:19

Those trifles look lovely!

BarbaraofSevillle · 24/12/2018 12:19

Trifle. There's also loads of cheese, grapes and some mince pies.

The trifle will be frozen raspberries out of the freezer, some sponge fingers and chambord that have been hanging around too long, M&S extra thick (it had bloody better be) ready made custard, whipped cream and crushed flake.

I've given up buying Christmas puddings as hardly anyone likes it, and it's a 'must have' for even fewer people. We have a tiny one somewhere that must be about 10 years old. it will probably be well matured, but I really should just bin it.

If you're going out later, you could leave it until half an hour before closing and go to M&S or wherever and go for something really fancy and ready made, hopefully bargainous from the reduced counter.

trifle

angelopal · 24/12/2018 12:22

Raspberry pavlova and Christmas pudding.

Jackshouse · 24/12/2018 12:25

Inkspellme have you made that before? Is it nice?

EdithWeston · 24/12/2018 12:28

The cheese mountain and the Quality Street is the real answer!

If I was making a pudding, it would be trifle or white chocolate mousse.

Lolly86 · 24/12/2018 12:29

Trifle, chocolate log, mince pies cream....

FogCutter · 24/12/2018 12:31

Xmas Blush
TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 24/12/2018 12:35

A lemon roulade. We've been having this for the last few years as no-one likes Xmas pudding!

HippyChickMama · 24/12/2018 12:35

I can't bear Christmas pudding but dh and the dc like it so they're having Christmas pudding and I'm having this from Tesco. I had one a couple of Christmases ago and it was lovely.

Vienetta. Cheap cheerful and not too heavy.

Magicstar1 · 24/12/2018 12:37

Christmas pudding, trifle, orange almond cake, toffee pecan roulade, rum raisin cheesecake, various ice creams.

ChodeofChodeHall · 24/12/2018 12:38

Pavlova! So easy and festive, everyone loves it, and as it's so light you can eat loads and loads of it.

Zevitevitchofcwsmas · 24/12/2018 12:41
