Got a Christmas pudding and brandy cream but only DH likes it, not me or the kids. Time is running out, I’ve already been out shopping but I’m going again, inspiration please?

Lemon and passion fruit meringue tart from local patisserie. Mmmmmmm Grin

Wilhelminawonka · 24/12/2018 12:46

We're not having a proper dessert because everyone will be stuffed so lots of tiny things to nibble. ..
Lebuken, chocolate, Christmas cake, fruit, cheese, crackers, cookies, fudge and of course mince pies

Wacadu · 24/12/2018 12:46

We don't like Christmas pudding or trifle so we're having 80's desserts that we like - a choice of chocolate orange vienetta or jam roly poly and custard.

I bought the Aldi chocolate carousel this year, it looks amazing.

SatsumasRock · 24/12/2018 12:47

This. Actually a lot easier than it looks.

Arghhh what are you having for Christmas Day Dessert?
Artesia · 24/12/2018 12:47

Baked Alaska. My kids have never had it so am hoping the combination of a hot pudding with cold ice cream inside will blow their tiny minds as it does mine

HarrySnotter · 24/12/2018 12:47

Christmas pudding and for those that don't like it I've got those M & S chocolate pine cone things.

Aworldofmyown · 24/12/2018 12:48

I've made a black cherry and chocolate meringue roulade. Looks pretty impressive if I do say so myself!!!!

overitalready · 24/12/2018 12:48

Choice of yule log, christmas pudding or mince pies

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 24/12/2018 12:49

Trifle. Ours is made with orange jelly, mandarin segments and orange liquor.

You could do simple chocolate mug cakes - one each for everyone with some brandy cream!

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 24/12/2018 12:49

Home made Christmas pudding and mince pies with cream or custard . Boring I know Grin

FairyBunnyAgain · 24/12/2018 12:50

Chocolate Mousse, Boozy Cheesecake, Pavlova, Triffle, Chocolate log. Plus a couple of Christmas puds.

All served with custard, cream and ice cream

In my defence there are lots of people, I am not eating ALL the puddings

alwaysontimeneverlate · 24/12/2018 12:56

White chocolate and raspberry roulade and chocolate mousse Christmas tree Christmas cake and cheese

CookieSwirlC · 24/12/2018 12:56

We have a salted caramel profiterole gateaux and a passion fruit buche from Morrisons. Can’t wait!

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 24/12/2018 12:58

Oh, I thought you said you weren’t going shopping again!

In that case, M&as do a lovely orange trifle.

I’d probably get a selection of mini cakes and puddings, cheesecake slices, macaroons, panna cottas etc, set it out and let everyone have a bit of whatever they fancy.

Or just an ice cream gateaux, perhaps?

Gingerbread house? Decorate it today, eat it tomorrow? With ice cream on the side, or hot chocolate to dip into?

HermioneWeasley · 24/12/2018 13:00

Mont Blanc - layers of meringue/pavlova, chestnut purée, cream (with booze) and chocolate “rubble”. Floated the idea of not making it this year which did not go down well.

TheNativityDonkey · 24/12/2018 13:04

We have guests so I always do a choice.
Xmas pud for the few that like it.
Home made mince pies.
Trifle- something a bit lighter/less stodgy
Yule Log - usually for the kids.
I always have cream, brandy sause, brandy butter and vanilla ice cream as available accompaniments.

Redken24 · 24/12/2018 13:04

Nigella sticky toffee pudding it's like the simplest pudding

RJnomore1 · 24/12/2018 13:11

A small Christmas pudding and a huge raspberry pannacotta from m n s

GreenEggsHamandChips · 24/12/2018 13:14

Chocolate log, Christmas pudding, couple of individual cheesecakes on offer.

Really though it will be lashings of brandy butter and jelly, macaroons and cheese

bathtimesanity · 24/12/2018 13:14

Yule log! You can never go wrong😉
Christmas pudding (I hate it!), some ice cream to go with maybe and some fruit salad?

buckeejit · 24/12/2018 13:15

I'm about to make Nigellas salted caramel ice cream. Crazy easy & delicious. Caramel condensed milk & double cream & but of salt. Amazing

MsAwesomeDragon · 24/12/2018 13:19

I bought some Christmas tree chocolate orange desserts from Morrisons, but we are them Xmas Blush

So DH had to go out this morning (he was going anyway for fresh veggies for the Guinea pigs), and he got cheesecake and Yule log. That should be plenty, there's only 4 of us.

TrashPanda · 24/12/2018 13:19

Strawberry trifle, lemon cheesecake, Yule log, mince pies, double cream and vanilla ice cream. I might take my mint vienetta too Grin BIL is making a Christmas pudding and brandy butter because he's the only one who likes it. Hopefully I've covered all bases for 8 adults and 5 kids.

MiddlingMum · 24/12/2018 13:20

Mince pies for those who like them. Fruit for those who don't. Not into puddings here - and no guests who would expect them. I'll probably have a banana and/or a satsuma.
