I think the deadline is August 19? I have account numbers only. Is it worth a go?

Absolutely worth a go.

I claimed this year from 2 sources. I’d moved house, changed name and had none of the original paperwork. Still had money within a month.

@CurcubitaPepo omg can you tell me what you did? Thinking I will draft the letters over Xmas while I have time. Can I ask how much you got back?

Use the resolver tool on Moneysavingexpert. You are miles ahead by having the account numbers, and presumably the banks that these relate to? Then it should be easy. If you aren't sure of the banks, if you google the sort codes, you should be able to get answers, because part of the sort code always relates to a certain bank.

@BarbaraofSevillle oooooh thank you! I have barclaycard, topsop and house of Fraser accounts - all closed but reckon I had ppi Grin

@Queenofthedrivensnow
What I did was I knew who I potentially had ppi with, so I contacted them ditectly and they sent forms out. They asked for a load of info such as previous addresses etc. Barclaycard was one of the companies I was with.

Sure you’ll do just as well with the resolver tool tho.

Good luck. Oh, my ppi dated back to the 1980s/1990s, so hard no barrier to claiming.

Hidingtonothing · 24/12/2018 15:54

I had no info, knew which bank I'd had accounts/credit with but no account numbers etc. I just rang the banks' PPI claims dept, gave what details I had and they did the rest. They did send out forms asking for further info and I mostly had to answer don't know/can't remember to the questions but it made no difference, my claim was still successful. Definitely worth a go OP, good luck!

Queenofthedrivensnow · 24/12/2018 16:12

@Hidingtonothing oh my lord I don't know you could ring!!!!

Yep, lots of places have dedicated PPI departments now and can get your claim started over the phone. I hate official, form filling type stuff but found the process really easy and stress free. I won't say how much I got (embarrassed by how much credit I actually had in my younger days Blush) but it was most definitely worth the little bit of effort it took, go for it Grin

Queenofthedrivensnow · 24/12/2018 16:29

Thanks all I will be straight on to this!!

You would have to state your case as to why you think it was mis sold, it's not enough just to have had it and want it back

tccat · 24/12/2018 16:33

You'll get lots of info and template letters online

Queenofthedrivensnow · 24/12/2018 17:46

@tccat oh I know that bit. I found the barclaycard form already
