To not really enjoy Christmas Day

I always feel slightly depressed at Christmas once kids opened presents and dinner done I spend the day worrying and feeling horrible. I always think everyone else is having a better day than me and I can’t make it great for my family. Added this year I lost my mum and it’s the first Christmas without her. My dad is quite an awkward person too and just generally feel nervous and anxious about it all. Anyone else feel like this?

Can you split the presents? We do Father Christmas presents in the morning then presents from relatives after clearing up from lunch. Chuck in a mid-morning stroll round the block and a game of Monopoly before tea and it seems to go ok.

So sick of Christmas & expectations and I find DH’s bah humbug attitude makes it even harder. He hasn’t done any Xmas shopping, I made him come to a supermarket with me yesterday & he didn’t even want to buy crackers. What a misery

Haha no crackers!! I think it’s just I constantly compare myself to others and think should have a huge Xmas day. We did at my in-laws last year and kids hated it with miserable mil they love staying at home. We can walk the dog etc. I need to cheer up I guess 😂 my mum wasn’t even that keen on Christmas she used to get stressed about presents and cooking bless her
