Happy Christmas Eve (eek) plans?

Happy Christmas Eve everyone.

What are your plans for the day?

We're going to give the kitchen a good tidy in a minute then off to visit family and friends and cemetery. From this afternoon the doors are locked (it's our time before the madness of DPs visiting tomorrow), baths are had, easy picky tea, matching jammies, movies and bedtime ready for the big man to visit.

Have a lovely day today and an even better one tomorrow. Lots of love xxx

Helping DS2 prepare for xmas dinner tomorrow for 10 adults, 2 toddlers and his 6 day old baby. (Yes, we all told wonderful DIL she was mad but it is what she wanted!)
I am currently hiding upstairs with DH while their friends visit as per the MN rules for MILS. After they go, I will get dinner ready for tonight and make innumerable cups of teas and sandwiches for my DIL who is possibly the most serene new Mummy in the world.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 24/12/2018 10:37

I've just been swimming and about to cycle over to my sister's house to see her and my nephews and go to the park. DP is away at his mum's for Christmas so tonight I'm going for a drink with a friend then early to bed.

Minniemountain · 24/12/2018 10:38

We've sorted out MIL's room and put the washing on. DH was at Waitrose at 7.30 as he'd ordered the wrong pork pie for tomorrow's breakfast.

There will be general bumming around and baking of a ham. We'll go to MIL's Christmas Eve gathering at 4, then she's coming to stay for 2 days.

I am currently listening to Womens' Hour whilst DH and DS play a computer game.

Went to supermarket at 5 this morning, called at butcher's at 8, then to McDonalds on way home from there for a breakfast to bring home, ate that and have just got out of a nice hot soak in the bath.
DH is currently in the kitchen cooking a joint of beef and a side of gammon ready for the kids and grandkids descending for their traditional Xmas eve lunch of hot roast sandwiches and nibbles.
I'm now lazing on the sofa with my feet up messing about on the natternet.

Merry Christmas to you all. Hope Santa brings you all that you wished for.Smile

mumof2sarah · 24/12/2018 11:31

@Ifangyow that sounds like a lovely day, even the start of it with an early start. Have a wonderful time with everyone this evening, merry Christmas xxxx

DS is doing a puzzle, DD is on the computer and DH is at work.

We are going to see Mary Poppins at the cinema at 5ish when DH is finished then pizza restaurant for dinner and back to put out treats for Santa before bed! Excited!

mumof2sarah · 24/12/2018 11:42

@FauxFox sounds lovely I'm currently having 5 minutes thinking of whether I should make some home made sausage rolls, I don't have time or effort to do it but I just REALLY really fancy them lol x

Been to breakfast with Santa at a soft play.
Trying to get youngest to take a nap before heading off to panto!

itallhappensforareason · 24/12/2018 11:45

Having a lazy day mostly with my 3.5 month old 😊 hubby is working til around lunchtime, he's under instruction to bring home some last minute Christmas bits so I don't have to venture out today, although will probably take the dog for a walk together when he gets home. Will have a little clean around in preparation for guests and start prepping some of the Christmas Dinner. Brother in law and sister in law are coming round tonight.

Toddlerteaplease · 24/12/2018 11:46

I was supposed to be going to Liverpool to see my friend and attend first vespers at the cathedral. But spent all night throwing up. So watching call the midwife instead.

PoptartPoptart · 24/12/2018 11:48

DH has taken DSS home (4 hour round trip). DS is currently playing online with his friends. I’m washing and getting stuff ready for tomorrow.
We’ll go to the carol service later and have a picky dinner with the grandparents and then an early night.

kmmr · 24/12/2018 11:50

Jobs done here! Santa has arrived and child is sleeping (ok, I admit, we are in Sydney).

We are at wine o'clock finally. Ready for bed and a likely early start!

Pyjamaface · 24/12/2018 11:51

I'm waiting for the custard to cool for the monster trifle. Have to go sort out DS' pit in a bit ready for friends to arrive this afternoon.

Polish meal tonight for 10 then I'm hoping for a fairly early night

overitalready · 24/12/2018 11:52

Ive just sat down after the xmas eve deep clean of the house.
DD15 is still in bed
DH is in the shower having just got in from a run

Todays plans include matching pjs, chinese for dinner & the sofa 🥳

Squeakyheart · 24/12/2018 11:54

Desperately trying to clean the house as it's in a right state!. Managed to find four unwrapped presents so sorted them. Still have puddings for tomorrow to sort out and currently feeding my 3 month old so enjoying the cuddles and time to muck about on my phone.
Starting to get excited!

Raven88 · 24/12/2018 11:55

Work till nine, then I get to put the presents out :)

FairyBunnyAgain · 24/12/2018 11:57

Been to Tesco/M&S for last minute salad and cream
Cheesecake made, and part way through the starter prep, need to tackle making mayo next.
Then I need to get presents under the tree and turn the kitchen/diner into a place of calm and festivity not cooking chaos.
And we are not hosting! Just us and DC for tea tonight and breakfast tomorrow before we hit the road, with festive food in the boot.
By 6pm I will be sitting with my glass of wine watching TV (DH is on dinner tonight)

Therealjudgejudy · 24/12/2018 11:59

Was at the gym for 9am this morning. My son is with his dad this year so I'm just heading to my parents now. Will stop for more Bailey's and bubbly on the way.

Then the plan is to help my mum with some last minute housework and then films, crisps and hot chocolate for the afternoon.

mumof2sarah · 24/12/2018 13:23

Yous ok sound like you're having lovely days. I've just been to my mums and her food prep for tomorrow is well on the way. I was hungry being there ha ha.

I'm going to make a little food now and go to the cemetery. Traffic is quite bad locally due to an accident so left it a bit later to leave than planned x

Long train journey, 30 minutes to go, then round to family for a quick catch up.

Lookatmeeee · 24/12/2018 14:37

Last minute tidying and washing this morning, decorated the table for tomorrow, just made cookies for Santa with ds, now watching Christmas films and he's playing on his tablet, dh at work. Tonight will be pjs pocket tea of frozen crap and wrapping presents with Champaign, then early night.

elQuintoConyo · 24/12/2018 14:48

DH is still out with DS. We had 10 in the house for brunch earlier!

I'm meeting a friend for a dog walk at 5.

Then home for an easy dinner and Caga Tio

Then we'll watch the dvd that Tio craps out. Once DS is in bed, we'll relax with a giant Baileys
