Help with split little toe, anyone?? (Bit gross)

Can anyone advise me on how to heal my toe once and for all please? I would be eternally grateful Grin

About 13 ish years ago, I was going for a head kick in a competition and got my little toe caught in opponent's head gear, which ripped my little toe apart from my 4th toe, tore the skin quite deep, lots of blood etc. I got it glued later that day in A&E. But now, every once in a while, it splits again. No bleeding, on the rare occasion I feel brave enough to take a peek I see it's just gaping with raw flesh exposed and it's pretty painful. Getting an appointment in my doctors is nigh on impossible and it seems a bit silly bothering them with such a minor thing in any case. Anyone had similar and know how to treat it? I've heard it's a pretty common injury, especially in martial arts? Im pretty sqeamish and constantly feel ick each time it does it (like now!), would love a final solution!!

I have similar on my big toe

Have smothered it in cream and wrapped it up in a bandage - so it stays wet while it heals

I've found the skin doesn't knot well if left 'dry'

I'm in Day 3 and it feels better already

Ahh ok, will try that! I'm sooo bloody sick of it, it seems it can be fine for a year or two, then split again right down the crease, I'm terrified of a bad infection but it hasn't happened as yet

I imagine there is a weakness there, like when anything is cracked/torn open. You can put it back as best you can but it will never be quite as strong as it used to be.
You could see about getting it stitched when it next opens? I had this ‘bursting open’ between 3/4 toes, had it stitched and it’s never bothered me since.
