Xmas present from partner

My BF said for Xmas he wants to put £1000 towards a trip for us to go away together.
That’s really nice I thought..
He got to explaining his thoughts about the trip.
We will have lots of fun, he said.
“With my £1000 and you putting in £1000, it means we can go somewhere nice with spending money”.

Should I tell him to me, it sounds like his Xmas present to me is paying for him to go on holiday?
WWYD?..

I don’t want to seem ungrateful, as I think he is actually trying to do a nice thing, but I can’t help seeing it he is basically giving me nothing for Xmas.
I already have his gifts, and now I have to fork out even more to basically pay my own way on a trip he is giving me for Xmas.

So he gets 50% off a trip and gifts?

He is a cf op.
And a tight arse.
Ltb.

That is a shit present which is going to cost you £1000. You need to point that out.

RagingWhoreBag · 23/12/2018 23:48

Does he know you’ve already bought him some stuff? And are you in a position to spend £1k on a gift either way?

Plenty of couples put money towards a joint gift like a holiday or large purchase for the house, but it’s usually agreed upon in advance, not sprung on one of them as an add-on.

Heck no. I'm all for holidays, we go on a lot of them; however this is piss taking.

Kintan · 23/12/2018 23:51

So his present to you is that he is paying for his half of a holiday. This doesn’t make any sense - is this a normal kind of thought pattern for him?

FissionChips · 23/12/2018 23:51

Tell him to fuck off!

BubonicBudgie · 23/12/2018 23:53

Ha fucking ha
LTB and keep the presents you bought

cushioncuddle · 24/12/2018 00:06

He's paying for his half of the holiday that's all. He's giving you nothing. How is that s present?

Does he think him going on holiday with you is such an incredible experience that him just being there is a treasured gift !

Have I miss read your OP !

Scotmum9 · 24/12/2018 11:59

Thanks everyone, I thought it was just me being ungrateful.
So happy others see what I do
There is no way I can afford to pay for a holiday out with what I have planned already.

Not sure how to bring it up, so I may just blurt it all out while we are sat round the Xmas tree in the morning and he tells me again my present is to pay £1000 towards a holiday with him - yay, I’m so excited for this gift...Xmas Confused

So you get nothing for a present?
His idea of giving a present to you is you paying to go on holiday? Is the 'gift' his presence on the holiday or something.
Maybe he doesn't know you've got him presents already and just thinks you are both saving money on gifts to put towards this holiday.
