Just that?

A murder happened in the street I walk on every day. A really sad story.

It happened before I was even born.

The Ipswich murders. I lived nearby when it was happening and I watched Paula Clennell interviewed about it live on the local news about why she was still out on the streets before she too was killed, so sad and always stayed with me.

Youcancallmeval · 23/12/2018 22:31

Jamie bulger. Will stay with me forever.

ReggieKrayDoYouKnowMyName · 23/12/2018 22:40

The murder of James Bulger. My younger sister was around the same age and it happened while we were on holiday during half term in the Norfolk Broads. I remember seeing a news report on it and my Dad commenting on how it made his blood run cold. Will never forget it.

UnderMajorDomoMinor · 23/12/2018 23:09

Holly and Jessica. Still think about those poor girls.

WidoWanky · 24/12/2018 00:56

1978 ish. I used to read my dads newspaper every night. A little boy in australia fell down a narrow well. He died before he was dug out several days later.

Still upsets me. The poor lad.

Dunblane - I am a bit of a news hound but caught something about it briefly and turned the news off until DP came home I can remember saying to him "something has happened in Scotland and I don't know if I want to see the news today" Of course I eventually saw the news and it was every bit horrific as I thought it would be. My eldest niece was starting school the following September and I remember her mum and dad had to go to an extra intro meeting about how they were going to change / add to security at the school it all just seemed to awful.
The other one was the blinding of PC Rathbone and his subsequent death I shed tears for him I remember him saying how lonely it was in his darkness, that has stayed with me ever since. The complete horror of what he went through just terrible terrible waste

The murder of a prostitue many years ago. I know who the killer is but no proof. It haunts me.

Lovingbenidorm · 24/12/2018 03:34

For me it was Holly &Jessica and Madeline.
All of those girls are in my thoughts

ChristmasTwatteryDoesMyHeadIn · 24/12/2018 03:52

Kriss Donald, a 15 year old boy kidnapped, tortured and murdered by a gang in Glasgow. Poor laddie was nothing to do with anything and they did it for kicks.

riotlady · 24/12/2018 04:02

Holly and Jessica for me too. I was the same age as them and it felt like their faces were everywhere the year that it happened.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 24/12/2018 04:05

Sophie Hook. Simply horrendous. I've never forgotten her.

I live relatively near to Soham and sonetimes have to visit there for work so that news story is often in my mind.

lilmishap · 24/12/2018 04:22

The mute 4 yr old who starved to death after his mum died from an epileptic fit in Hackney. His name was Chadrack which has stuck with me.

ChristmasTwatteryDoesMyHeadIn · 24/12/2018 04:33

lilmishap I remember him, it was horrible. Nobody noticed, not a soul. Poor wee boy.

WineGumption · 24/12/2018 05:17

Maddie. My DD was the same age and it made my blood run cold. And James Bulger, such evil in 2 young boys.

Much more recently the South African student Hannah Cornelius, I know that will stay with me forever, what that poor poor girl went through. Utterly heartbreaking to read.
